Five days on the Kelly’s farm: Baby sheep, cows, wood fireplaces, and a million stars at night.
Published: April 15th 2012Europe » Ireland » County Tipperary » TipperaryWell Part One of Global Sorority has come to an end in Tipperary County. As of tomorrow would have taken nine flights, six very long car drives, 2 botabota's at night, one of which we were stopped by police at a road block, and a few long walks across dirt roads and farmlands in 21 days. Tia and I have finished our trip on her family’s organic farm. The weather has been a bit chilly with beautiful sun and sporadic clouds and showers. It’s such a great experience being on a farm and I wish I was able to experience a little more but it’s time to go home. At first it seemed a little odd for me to come this far not to experience all of Ireland or at least a little more but what ... read more

Published: June 18th 2009Europe » Ireland » County Tipperary » TipperaryWednesday 10th June “Its a long way to Tipperary, its a long way to go............” Well that was the tour directors plan for today but first we had some administration to do like catching up on email and booking ahead for the next couple of nights after a second night at Limerick.Gretchens cold does appear to be improving except for the COUGH!! We thought the Information Centre would be a good start as they would know where an internet cafe was.The Travelodge we are staying in at Limerick has only been open 3 days and they haven’t yet sorted out their internet connections. Whoever heard of an Information Centre not having parking for people visiting it in a car??!!Well her in Limerick that is exactly what you get.We knew where the centre was and drove past it ... read more
Home; the word has a whole new meaning
Published: August 28th 2008Europe » Ireland » County Tipperary » Tipperary(photos will be added when I'm back in Canada) We're in Ireland. Conor's homeland. Home also to rain and all things green. Conor's parents met us in Rosslare where our ferry docked after crossing both the English channel and the St. George channel in the Irish Sea. It's been a nice change of pace, being able to relax yet still see the country a bit with the help of Conor's parents. We've been staying in Tipperary, a cute little Irish town where Conor's parents grew up in and around. We visited the Cliffs of Moher on the west coast of Ireland on our way to the smallest of the Aran Islands, Inish Oirr. The Cliffs of Moher are just awesome to see. You literally feel like your on the edge of the world, dropping 394-702ft depending ... read more
Today we slept in a little before we joined the group for breakfast. It was very fun to wait for Natalie in the dining room as she is very sunny in the morning. We had our breakfast as Natalie hugged the cat figurine in the dining room. After breakfast we packed the car and then made our plans for the day. We decided to walk down as a group to see the baby lambs that Celia, our B&B owner, had adopted. Celia gave us four bottles of milk to feed them. We were all very excited to get to feed the lambs, especially Natalie. When we got to the pen, the lambs could tell we had the milk and they were fighting fiercely to get a spot. Natalie and Amy fed the littlest lamb and when ... read more

John Denver's "Leaving On A Jet Plane", Willy Nelson's "On the road again", Daft Punk's "Around The World" and... Jinx Lennon! (Thanks Rachel...you are determined that I'll never forget Dundalk! :-) ) So with the ipod, a few T-Shirts, the trusty... (soon to be crusty!) shorts and half a ruksack full of medicines. (I have been jabbed and prodded and given enough tablets to bring with me to supply a hospital for the best part of the year!). I am finally ready to hit the road. For anyone that asked me and didn't get a straight answer here is a rough idea of where and when I plan to go places. But you didn't get ... read more
Irish Touring Day 7 Caher Castle and Glendalough
Published: August 8th 2007Europe » Ireland » County Tipperary » Tipperaryurl='/Videos/3714.html' onclick='dialog("/Videos/3714.html?popped=1","tbvideo",600,600);return false;' Driving in Ireland Another rainy day. We decided on the caves at Michelstown or Caher Castle. It ended up being Caher because the caves tour was in another hour and also everyone was worried that, because of the rain, the caves would be dripping wet. (more than likely) Caher Castle (1142) offers tours but we chose to just wander around and feel the atmosphere of the place. It is a very impressive river -island castle and if ever you wanted to see a castle on a rock, surrounded by a moat, (well river actually) full of turrets, towers, massive walls, defences and dungeons, this is it. The inside has not been done up like nearby Rock of Cashel and is smaller but it wins hands down for allowing you to wander around freely ... read more
