From the mainland port we were off to Kefalonia, that is Nick Arlene and myself. The ferry was impressive. A nice coffee and a rest. Our place of stay was at Rodi Studios (www.rodistudios.com) Efi, the owner was herself so pleasant and beautiful, with beautiful, quiet, clean with extremely impressive views overlooking the pool and sea and mountains. We swam in the pool each morning and then off to beeches at least one or 2 sometimes a day. Nick said we covered with car basically almost every main road on the island from one side to the other. The beeches were absolutely beautiful with each one with something different to offer. Just heard via email from Arlene. On July 16 we are off to the West coast island of Kefalonia till approx July 23, and are booked at Rodi Studio. Bedroom up and down, so now I guess I will not have to hear Nick snoring, so Arlene says (she said she might just have to join me) Sounds very nice. This island is fabulous, though I'm sure it's changed quite a lot and has become more crowded. I'd stay somewhere far away from the main tourist beaches. I was there while they were filming the movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin, and I didn't run into Nicholas Cage or Penelope Cruz, but I did sit next to John Hurt, which helped me meet two British girls who I inadvertantly helped avoid the advances of Dutch sailors, so they invited me to stay at their villa, where I probably outstayed my welcome because it was such a wonderful place.... read more
