Dianna - Greek Goddess

Greek Goddess Hi, I am enjoying the free life, not working, My choice. After working a few years, it is time to take the most out of life and enjoy the gym, walking, my family and travel etc.. A bit of shopping here and there and some gardening (not too much) and cooking too. Now I am off on another European journey. A trip to see my sis Arlene, Nick, and their sons George, Alex, and Foti way over there in Greece, the place I do love to visit and enjoy the sand, sea, and food (Arlene's cooking) and Banana Beach. Hey "Arlene". Always such good laughs with sis, who, by the way came to see me just last year to attend my daughter Jolene and Aaron's wedding. We had so much fun. On July 6/07 I leave on this new big journey for a full 69 days, with a solo trip for a week to Italy--Rome, Florence, and Venice, and then flying to Athens with a proposed 2 week holiday to island of Kefalonia and Ithaki on the West coast. Then will return back to Pallini, Athens to rest just a bit then When Myrna arrives possibly off again to Islands, Patmos, Kos and Rhodes with hopefully a day tour of shopping to Turkey. I did decide to take a big suitcase for those wonderful market shopping trips. We will leave some time to tour downtown Athens as well, eating and drinking nice wine along the sea shore and visiting the ruins. Then on Aug 30 onto Scotland with Sis Arlene, Sister-in-law Myrna, and we will meet brother Randy in London. With all 4 of us off to Edinburgh, Scotland for 10 days. We will also meet Myrna's family from Cape Breton, who will be performaing 5 performances in the Scottish Festival. On Sept 9 the 4 of us again will be off to London to see the London sites Wow, I am tired already. I trust I will have time to add pictures to this site that I will take of all the sites and fun. If not, I will at least write a note or two here and there, if I have difficulty adding the pictures, as we will see. I am off on my travels the evening of July 6th, arriving in Rome July 7th evening after a stop at Heathrow, London, and Munich, Germany!!!!!!!! Vickie, make sure you send me a message or two, and all you gym folks--do not work too hard as I will have to catch up to you in the Fall. The walking may not do it all. Randy start preparing for your holiday. Orest do not work too many hours--think of those retirement days ahead and future travel plans, Duane, I want to see that finshed house you are building on my return. Paulette enjoy the BC island. Jolene and Tasha, enjoy those new red vehicles, and Aaron, not too much Calgary Stampeding.Enjoy.

This is the view overlooking the pool and on to the ocean from the resort hotel.
Had a very nice 7 day trip to Puerto Vallarta. Stayed in an all inclusive at Golden Crown Paradise Resort, with a room overlooking the ocean. When arriving, just missed a big downpour, with streets covered in water at least 5 inches deep in some places near our hotel. It was a cloudy week, with the sun comming out at least daily, which was fine, considering how hot and very humid it was. Sure got enough sun anyways. The pool was wonderful, and the food and drinks were excellent, especially the Miami Vice. Went on a trip to the old town [View Full Entry]

Sept 12th arrived. I actually got up real early to take the underground all the way to Heathrow Airport. This required that I had to make one change in the underground, with only one set of stairs to go down and then found an underground station at Earl's Court that actually had a lift, one of few in this city, and then took another underground which took me an hour, not bad for 4 pounds. I got onto my Air Canada flight, a newer plane for a nice ride home. At this time, I want to thank my sister, Arlene for [View Full Entry]

I really enjoyed my walking tour of the National Gallery, and Trafalgar Square, and the surrounding area. I had a very nice buffet lunch at Questos Buffet. There sure were allot of tourists around. Funny to see everyone on the street corner looking at the same map I was, trying to figure out where the next underground station was or the next statue or the next building. I can not believe how nice it is out. A few clouds in the sky but warm enough on a September day to wear short sleeves. What a nice trip to London. I definitely [View Full Entry]

I went for two wonderful walks into Hyde Park to take a look at beautiful lakes and fountains, and in particular to the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace. What a pleasure it was to walk through and enjoy the sights of people walking resting talking, birds in the ponds etc. enjoy the pictures. [View Full Entry]

Now we have arrived into London. We found our hotel, the London House Hotel, to be simple, clean with a nice simple breakfast, with an excellent location related to the underground, many excellent restaurants, a shopping centre, Marks & Spencer food store, etc. Would most definitely stay here again. After arriving and checking in, we wasted no time to go downtown to see the sights, and pleasantly came upon an oyster, sea food, & wine fair at Haysmarket. Lots of people, good music, excellent sea food. What a fun Sunday afternoon. Then we went for a walk to the old London [View Full Entry]

Now maybe we know the answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well here we are. Saturday, and the two groups left the Ross-Shire Red house of Dornie. What a ball we had during the past 8 days. Randy said he travelled over 1000 miles during this time. I have to say that, we absolutely saw soo much and covered allot of the lower Highlands area. I will certainly go back with fond memories of Scotland and all the heather, moss, green beautiful large Locks, dams, many beautiful castles, so many sheep everywhere (I kept dreaming of sheep even on my return), the excellent food we purchased and cooked. The special Blas festival [View Full Entry]

We made a second visit to the Island of Skye, visiting numerous main roads of the island travelling over the bridge as well as over the ferry from Glenelg, travelling to Kylerhea for a performance, visiting a farm for quail eggs, and veg, travelling through Broadford, Portree, up to Uig and then around to the Castle of Dunvegan gardens, through the Cullin Hills over very very narrow steep roads and then back to Dornie. What an adventurous wonderful trip of seeing many animals, the long haired Highland cattle, and sheep. We still had time to eat and have coffee, making many [View Full Entry]

Taken from a distance.
We stayed for 8 days in the Ross-shire Red house of Dornie, just a short walk to the Elean Donan Castle. We almost felt like we were in one of the most beautiful villages around. The view from the house was something else. The village buildings and houses were beautiful with georgeous gardens surrounding each house along with distant views of the mountains of Skye and along with views over Lock Long and Lock Alsh. What a beautiful place to stay. There was a small convenience store, a phone in the middle of the village, a hotel, bar (lively on weekends), [View Full Entry]

We followed a group and we walked across this suspension bridge over these beautiful falls.
During the week over 8 days we drove approximately 1000 miles. Each day took us in a different direction, on new very narrow roads. We took time to make numerous stops to see the wonderful sites of the Highlands. We were amazed by the green of the hills, the many miles of large Locks of water, the falls that we saw. We had a wonderful dinner in Invermoriston. The rest of the family took in the MacNeil festival event. Arlene and I went for a walk by the falls, almost getting lost in the forest although we were really not far [View Full Entry]

There were 10 of us staying at the Ross-shire Red House in Dornie. What fun we had. The main reason why we landed up in Scotland was due to the fact that the McNeil Clan were asked to perform in the "Blas Highland Music Celebration". Paul and Tracey MacNeil performing great traditional musical sounds with the piano and bagpipes. Pauls playing reflects his appreciation of the Gaelic Language and culture, Tracey an excellent piano player of contemporary style and traditional style of Cape Breton Island. Father Rob MacNeil is a Gaelic singer from Barra Glen, Cape Breton Island. Paul & Trace [View Full Entry]
