Hello everybody!!!! We are in frankfurt and we like the city!!!! Very nice and Lina is really happy as they have starbucks coffee!!!! Our hotel is nice and cheap including breakfast (18 euros a night) Prag was horrible!!!! At least at the train station. Everybody was rude and because of their incompetence we missed our train to fankfurt and had to take another one. It was really horrible. The trip from krakow to prag wasn't that great either. But good thing is we met a german boy (17 years old but looked like 15) who had overslept on the train and ended up in prag with no money. So we had a few laughs with him. Going to paris tomorrow for four nights. booked a hotel for 22 euros a night walking distance from Moulin Rouge! ... read more

We´re leaving for India tomorrow! I can hardly believe that this part of our trip is over, and that in a month we´ll be back in Cowboyland... crazy. (side note: my parents ACTUALLY moved! Luckily, I´ve snuck into my program at UBC AND have a place to live next year, so soon enough I´ll be Vancouverbound.. weird to think about now). Anyway, this will be the last blog for Europe, so enjoy, ma´kizzles! We spent about five days in Prague, and that was more than enough. The city itself really was pretty, but to appreciate it you had to get past the sleazy strip joints, swarming crowds, and VLTs as far as the eye could see. On top of that, the locals (understandably) seem to hate the tourists for ruining their city´s charm, so it wasn´t ... read more

Hello all, I´m presently in Frankfurt for one night at the moment. Germany has been interesting, full of Americans and beer. I started out here coming from Salzburg, Austria (and the Sound of Music tour and ice caves) and went to Munich. Munich is an interesting city. The department stores sell traditional German dresses, everything edible consists of meat or pretzels (except the Indian food, which is actually affordable), and people are fascinated by the Glockenspiel in the town centre. My first day there, I went to see Dachau concentration camp, which is about 40 min. outside the city. It was really sobering to see the actual camp and to learn more about what went on there. Especially the so-called "medical experiments". After the tour, I went out for dinner to the Augustiner brewhouse with 2 ... read more

GERMANY Plus Six Driving Trip, May 20 - 31, 2005 Day 1: May 20, 2005, Friday We relaxed in the President’s Club lounge before boarding our 1:15 p.m. flight on a Continental 777 to Frankfurt via Newark. Our Business/First Class accommodations were comfortable, and the food & service were topnotch. The luxury seats featured a variety of position controls and individual monitors for dozens of movies, games, and music selections. After a few hours of sleep, we awoke in Frankfurt at 9 a.m. local time. Day 2: May 21, 2005, Saturday We picked up our rental car, a Volkswagen Golf, and set out on our driving adventure! It didn’t take long to get lost. Our intention had been to drive north along the western bank of the Rhine River, but after about an hour of driving ... read more

Arrival Abroad My long awaited trip to reconnect with family, friends, and to log in new experiences under my already seasoned travel pro belt, has finally begun! From the time I bought my plane ticket to the day of departure, I have been waiting in anticipation for this day. It has been three years since I've returned to my homeland of Germany - far too long than I care to admit. For someone who has grown accustomed to spending summers abroad, being on lockdown in a full-time job feels like burning weights on my soul. Thankfully the young guy sitting next to me on the plane was a good looking Swed. He had just returned from a surfing adventure in South America and was on his way back home. I guess he hadn't been in the ... read more

so right now i'm at my cousin's apartment in frankfurt. the past few days have been pretty crazy. first off, the flight went pretty smoothly, save for some of the roughest turbulence ever. the food was actually better than most i've had- i got yummy indian food, yay. the stewardess kept offering me drinks, but it wasn't as though getting drunk on a plane was my idea of fun. got to frankfurt, met my cousin, and hung out with a few of her friends before going out to a bar with jade, her boyfriend toby, and his best friend. they each insisted i try some german beer, so i had some wheat beer, banana beer, and this thing called a rattla. a lot less shitty than american beer, but i still hate beer. we got home ... read more

Date: 26.02.2005 Destination: Frankfurt, Germany Day: 1 At first, this trip was not intended but because there was still another day left in our 6 days Eurail ticket, we were able to take this short trip south. The trip was a short one, just 1 and a half hour. Frankfurt is supposedly the economy capital of Germany and has the most high rise buildings in the whole Europe! Nicknamed Mainhattan of Germany. We reached there near noon. This place is like a typical city in Germany, clean and safe. After exiting the main train station, we walked toward the old town, as usual. Along the way, we saw some high rise but frankly speaking, nothing really special. It is not "that" high and can't even compare to Kuala Lumpur. Some has unique features, such as in ... read more

We just arrived in Frankfurt. Everything is going smoothly. I don´t have a lot of time, but I thought I would at leat say hello. The keyboard is different over here and I have trouble finding the "Y". The flight was GREAT. We had some good movies and the food wasn´t too bad. We have 1 more flight to Budapest, Hungary and then we begin the 6 hour drive into Romania. Your prayers are working . . . we have had ZERO problems so far and the worst is behind us. I have been promisd some internet time, so you can expect more whe I get a chance. Love to all, Amy :) P.S. Please excuse typos, I am tired and jetlaggd and on a foreign keyboard! ... read more
