Our travel blog finally begins after much delay and hopefully much reader anticipation... After a simply beautiful and perfect wedding day in Steamboat Springs, Colorado (9-18-2010), we did what most newlyweds do - fly to a gorgeous and exotic island to celebrate our honeymoon, our week dedicated to focusing solely on the beauty of our newly solidified love for one another. We chose St. Lucia in the Windward Islands mainly because we read about jungle biking and about climbing the infamous Pitons. We chose right, and had the most amazing time! Seriously. Anse Chastanet was our secluded eco-resort of choice, located outside of the town of Soufriere, and it was simply euphoric, to say the least. St. Lucia, an independantly-ruled island, has mountainous peaks that rise to 3,120 feet above sea level. It´s not your typical ... read more

Hello everyone. This is Delphine for a change. We are the 10th October and I am writing from a hostel {une auberge de jeunesse}in San Jose, Costa Rica. You are not going to believe it but we are actually so relieved we are out of the Carribean. St Lucia was a big disappointment. I know, sea, sun and no work should pretty much be haven {le paradis} but on this occasion it was not enough. We spent 5 days confined in a small holiday resort, which once again, sounds great but actually, it felt like we were held hostage, bound to spend money there and there only. As soon as we got out of the resort, we were hasseled by beggers and locals asking for money, trying to sell us things or performing petty services in ... read more

Not your typical scuba divers accomodation! Date: November 2007 Accomodation: Ladera First Impression: West Wall is missing in each room, really? Of course it is, that is what lead to our desire to try this high end tree house for the adventurous type. Did I say adventurous type? This resort is beautiful, and if you don't stay here come for drinks at sunset as there is no better place than the hotel bar perched over a cliff facing he Pitons and glorious sea. What is a seemingly quite bar fills to capacity at dusk and you will be sipping cocktails with writers from food and wine magazine, professional photographers, and all sorts of travel tip advisors. The food here is very nice and claims to be the best resturant on the island. It is good, however, ... read more

The Eastern Caribbean: 7 Islands in 7 Days May 16 - 22, 2010 Are you looking for a warm paradise island to escape to for awhile? With over 35 unique destinations, the Caribbean provides a wide variety of tropical isles for all kinds of vacationers, especially cruisers like us. We chose this particular cruise on Carnival because of its itinerary: seven islands in seven days, including several to which we had not yet traveled. On Sunday, May 16, we flew to our port of embarkation, San Juan, Puerto Rico, arriving around 8 p.m., and taxied from the airport to the cruise ship terminal. Check-in was quick and easy, as we were among the last guests to arrive before the 11 p.m. departure. The Carnival Victory is a huge ship with a capacity of 3500 passengers, and ... read more

One of the testimonials posted on Trip Advisor about Coconut Bay Beach Resort and Spa says “It’s not the smartest sweater in your wardrobe, but the one you love to wear”. This describes the resort to a T. Your first contact with the resort is when you are greeted by a friendly representative as soon as you exit customs at Hewanorra Airport. They introduce you to your taxi driver who whisks you to the resort in 5 minutes. A smiling group of bell hops unload your luggage while you check-in with a cold glass of champagne in hand. We were escorted to our room on the “Splash” side of the resort dedicated to families. It was just my husband and I and I was hoping for the “Harmony” side dedicated to adults only. But the receptionist ... read more

December 12 2009 Crossing the Atlantic Ocean Hello Everyone, well this blog is a bit of a mixed bag to say the least. The first section is by Debs and recounts her memories of the trip across and the second section is copies of the logs we sent to Rally Control during our trip across. A fait bit of reading but seeing you all will have some time off over Christmas, you might be able to get through it!!! Just over 24 hours ago we arrived on the beautiful Caribbean Island of St Lucia after 18 days sailing from Las Palmas. We all survived the crossing well with food and water left over!! (Mainly because we had only one shower the whole crossing, a few sponges baths and some baby wipe washes!!! We all still love ... read more

After finally getting out of Peru we were fecking ecstatic to finally land in Miami. We had achieved it and we both were looking forward to our 10 days of luxury around the Caribbean. We got the train from Miami airport upto Fort Lauderdale and a short bus journey later got to our accommodation near the water front and breathed a sigh of relief as we were only about 10mins from the cruise terminal so nothing could stop us now. What we did need to tackle was Jo's lack of any appropriate clothes though we hoped it would be less formal than the Queen Mary 2 cruise. The last thing either of us wanted to do was shop but reluctantly we found out were some shops were from our friendly Indian Hotel receptionist. After a ... read more

Honeymoon is booked! After much thought and discussion we have finally booked our honeymoon. At first we were going to go to Hawaii for two weeks and use my parents timeshare. My FH didn't want to go to Hawaii because it's where everyone goes. He also wanted to do something that was all inclusive so we wouldn't have to worry about money while we were away, and with the timeshare only some are all inclusive. So after much discussion this past weekend we decided to do two weeks at Sandals St. Lucia. We will be staying at Sandals Grande St. Lucian on our honeymoon from July 25, 2010 til August 6, 2010. Our friends went their for their honeymoon back in 2007 and loved it! They said you were treated like "kings and queens!". We looked ... read more

Kenties minä paikallisen väestön mielestä suorastaan herjaan heitä, kun he tahtoisivat ansaita pari iisiä dollaria kuljettelemalla minua paikasta toiseen.
