After a very long journey from Guatemala onboard a stinky hot bus that could get up to a maximum of 20km's an hour, driving around cliff sides we finally arrived into Copan...to find there was no electricity or running water....when it would come back on nobody knew. It was the last thing we felt like in the heat after having being stuck on a chicken bus for over 12 hours. But Copan was a lovely little sleepy town, the gateway for for it's one and only Mayan Ruin. The cobble stoned streets are lined with brightly painted houses and store's, the town is abuzz with the sound of tuk tuk's horns. The girls and I spent the next few nights here in copan enjoying this quaint town and of course the ruins. There was also this ... read more

J: Holy white scalp batman! I got to be quite the bearded fellow, but that’s done now. And, while the hair was a-growin, so was my following at the black pearl (the bar/club i DJ at). which is quite the relief. (hopefully they’ll recognize me without the fur). the overview: two Saturdays ago i had the best turnout of my life. the club was packed and people were going crazy for the music, screaming and whistling and dancing non-stop for hours. Such a good feeling -- a total high for sure. last night was not as great, but still the crowd was much thicker than my first few nights. Hannah was working/tired and couldn’t stick around for long so i spent most of the night around strangers which both cool and scary. I also learned that ... read more

Ok guys, so here's the deal. this website that hosts our blogs had some technical difficulties and lost all our previously posted blogs. we were able to recover most of them through google, but a reposting of past entries is not going to happen. that said' we both like this site and hearing your comments and so we're going to keep publishing the same way we always have and keep our fingers crossed regarding any future... accidents. We have a proper blog that we will post in a day or two. Until then, here are some photos for your enjoyment. :) Hasta Luego. ... read more

It's almost over - boo hiss! But here are a few of my tales to make you seething with jealously!!! My last week here has been UNREAL. The last day in the clinic went really well and was taken out to lunch by the president and the team! I got a little present, a card and a certificate thanking me for my help and for all the equipment i brought over - and they also asked me to thank you guys as well for supporting me!. I have also been invited back next year! On Monday morning I headed to Tegus with Jen and stayed in a wicked B&B with an American couple who provides safe accommodation for foreigners. Tegus is notoriously dangerous with lots of gangs, drugs and high crime rate etc and it's ... read more

J: So apparently the woman who frequents our dive shop calling out coconut bread was not talking about me, but actually selling coconut bread. and the witch doctor my boss went to see didn’t actually cure his dengue fever, which is too bad because half the people i know seem to have caught it. Luckily, Hannah and I escaped… kind of. H: So after my last fiercely won battle with an ear infection (which I’m sure kept you all on the edge of your seats) I came down with… ANOTHER ear infection. I’ll spare you the gory details, suffice it to say I’ve been out of the water (and incidentally nearly going out of my mind) for about two weeks. And today was my first day back in the water! Or, rather, it was supposed ... read more

Its crazy that i just looked at the date and realized its the 10th. wow. i think the yogurt i bought last night is expired :( So ya, anyway -- this entry will have to be short because by coming to Roatan, the internet rates have gone from $1 an hour to $14. i'm typing as fast as i can... last update we left off in lanquin / el retiero cabins which we loved. we were able to catch up there, internet / sleep & eating wise. the food was great and the atmosphere was wonderful and peaceful. our last evening there we explored the bat caves (i may have mentioned that already)... in short - billions and billions of bats swarming over our heads trying to find their way out at dusk. it was ... read more

How much should one pay for a monkey lala ? Is five dollars too much? Yes, but we’re getting one anyway. Know why? We’re gainfully employed. Let’s backtrack a bit though… H: It all started when I began stalking this friendly couple who own a great Thai restaurant on the “main (only) street” in West End. After stopping in every day for a week, and befriending the gardener, wait-staff and their two toddling children, who primarily occupy themselves by repositioning the chopsticks in a manner reminiscent of medieval torture devices. After offering my services as a waitress and Jon’s as a bartender, somewhat incessantly, they finally hired...Jon. J: It’s cause I’m better looking. But that’s neither here nor there, eventually, they took pity on Hannah and hired her too. Anyways, the owners are really relaxed, ... read more

J&H: We decided that something about the unified voice is a little creepy...so here’s an update from J and H… J: I DJed at my first real event last night! The party was essentially a rave, so considering my DJing style, I was chosen to start the party off. All the DJ’s after me spun electronic music. There were five DJs including me (I still can’t get over how much I love the sound of that!). Two of the guys came from the mainland just for the party and brought a serious arsenal of equipment, including two Technics turntables (which were the only turntables on the island), two CDJ’s and a serious club mixer. Another guy lent his speakers (we could still hear the music after a half hour gruelling hike away from the party ... read more

Holy Cow!! where to start? So, we’ve been diving our way through advanced diver Rescue Diver (which we’re part way through) courses, not to mention our CPR course, and now we’re on a break to inspect the reef - more on that later. In the water, Hannah made friends with a giant Grouper, who settled near her, and she fed him a leaf. (not really though, but the grouper was real. have i lost you yet?) We also made people friends, while drinking ocean water and alcoholic beverages. But more on diving, so far we’ve seen … a baby manta ray, flying fish (they go on for EVER), a scrawled cow fish, really incredibly large butterfly fish, great barracuda (way cooler than we expected, still scary tho), porcupine fish, tons of sea turtles, moray eels, ... read more
