safe travel?..

so i am sooo nervous about going back. I keep hearing horror stories of violence...anyone have any problems? what did you do or where did you go that was safe?
I am taking my whole family (kids) and want to make sure its a safe trip
I love my country and i am very excited about seen my father again and visiting my mothers grave...but i am just so nervous with the trip.
