<span><span><span> <span><span>Jan. in Fort Myers was good.<span> We had a few cool days & nights, but mostly it was Sunny and 75-80’s during the day and 60’s at night.<span>People we had met last year were glad to see us back and we met a lot of new people as well. We had coffee & donuts every Tues. morning, bingo every Wed. evening, a campfire every Friday evening, a pot-luck dinner, an ice cream social and to end the month a ‘welcome back’ party (funny since we were leaving). ..Jim managed to find flea-markets and yard sales every Tues, Wed, Thurs., Friday & Saturday.<span> We even managed to ‘set-up’ at one of the flea-markets near our RV park, on one Sunday and again the following Friday, Sat & Sunday.<span> Jim did quite well selling coins & silver ... read more

Hmmm.....well we will be leaving this RV park (thankfully) on Jan. 1st. We are at the Gold Rock Camground in New Smyrna Beach, Florida......do NOT come here....unless you just need an overnight stay. While we are only 3 miles from the beach....this campground is tiny. No pool, no laundry facilities (problem with their septic), no activities, only 43 sites (most are seasonal), sites are not too level, two showers (not cleaned since we've been here), but no private dressing area. The weather has been great here....75-85 most days and 60-70 most nights. Just a couple of days of rain. It has been perfect beach weather and being so close....I wish we could have taken advantage of it. Jim is not a beach person and my foot is not yet 'up to' a lot of walking anyway.....so ... read more

Hi all, Well, Jim and I are on winter vacation in Florida again this year. We left Saturday morning at about 7 am and made it to Martinsburg, West VA Wal-mart for the 1st night. The trip was fairly smooth, but not totally without incident. While on the road, our self-locking (while in motion) refrigerator decided to unlock and out 'flew' a gallon size Rubbermaid plastic container, filled with water. It fell onto the kitchen floor and a piece of the plastic actually broke right out of it and water all over the floor. I didn't know Rubbermaid could break like that. Obviously, we needed to find a place to 'pull over' until we had it all mopped up!! The 2nd day, Sunday, was fairly smooth and we made it to Lumberton, NC Wal-Mart without incident. ... read more

Hi Everyone, Well we are home! The trip home was pretty uneventful. We did have a couple of days in the 90's before we left. I have mixed feelings about being home.....I miss the 'sunny in the 80's' days by the pool....but I am happy to see Spring in CT (and I get to see my grandson again). ( : I am attaching a few pics taken our last month in Florida. Some were taken at a boat show we went to with friends. Hope you enjoy them! Always, Linda & Jim... read more

Hi everyone, Arrived in Lakeland, Florida on 2/1 to 80 degree weather. We then had a cool spell, but are now back to 80!! (Spent a couple of hours at the pool this afternoon.) Things have been pretty routine....Bingo on Tues. night (we are NOT winning), Thurs., Fri., & Sat. a.m.'s up by 5:30ish to hit the yard sales by 7:00! Set up at the local fleamarket on Sunday a.m. (weather permitting), to sell stuff bought at the local yard sales. Last Wednesday, we met a couple, we know from Brimfield for lunch...and had a nice day visiting. The trees are in full bloom this week (along with my allergies), and they are 'leafing out'. I have been living on Benadryl since Sunday. Tuesday, Jim & I went to the Florida State Fair...I don't think it ... read more

We traveled to the Florida Everglades which is approx. 1 1/2 hours south of where we are currently located and took an airboat through the jungles of the Everglades. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.....our Captain Picou had no problem putting the 'pedal to the metal' every chance he had, wasn't sure that he was going to make all the tight corners.....but he did! Hope you enjoy the following pics.... read more

Happy New Year everyone!! Well, Jim & I arrived today in Ft. Myers, Florida to 80 deg. weather!! How cool!! (or hot)....anyway, I could get used to this very easily. Supposed to cool down to the 70's for the next few days...with nights in the high 40's!! ( : This was the 'maiden' voyage for our new motorhome. We left on Saturday (6 days late....since we were snowed in)...we were set to pull out of our driveway and Jim couldn't buckle his seatbelt.....he gave up after half an hour....the buckle is broken...don't know how it broke...but it is....so I figured a way to loop it around his armrest....but it really wasn't gonna' help if he really needed it (thank goodness he didn't). We made it as far as the Martinsburg, W.VA Wally-Mart!! The second day....we started ... read more

Hi all, We are home!!! Here are more pics of our adventure that I hope you will enjoy. Several of them were taken at SeaWorld….but when I tried to submit them to ‘travelblog’ the first time, they didn’t take. I liked them so much, that I am trying again. On Sunday, 10/25, we visited a childhood 'bud’ of Jim, who is now living on a 19 mile long, 3 mile wide island, off the Florida Gulf coast. On Tuesday, 10/27, we visited another ‘bud’ of Jim. Dwight and his wife Valerie, spend their winter in Florida and have a home near a lake. They took us out on their Pontoon boat and we had a wonderful time. On 10/30 & 10/31 (while on our trek home), we spent a couple of nights in a campground ... read more
