ummmm.....did we make a wrong turn?? Sign in Tennessee. Ahhhhh……..it is 9:30 am (CST) on Sunday, the bed is made, the dishes are done, I am dressed and finishing my last few sips of my second cup of coffee. Jim is gone for a few hours to a local gun show and possibly a few other stops, which gives me some quiet time to compose my thoughts and let you know that we did, indeed make it to Biloxi, MS.
We spent our first night, on the road, in Martinsburg, W.VA. in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Don’t know how cold in actually got that night – but I was sure glad that we had put a 2
nd blanket (a wool) one on the bed. Also, I knew there was a good reason that I packed my flannel pj’s! I certainly needed them both that night! Not too much to tell you about the road travel – basically just highway driving.
Our second night was in the Knoxville, TN Wal-Mart. Don’t remember the temp, we still had the wool blanket on the bed – but didn’t need the flannel pj’s! We were concerned about the weather as they were predicting about 4 days of rain and some
fog! It didn’t rain overnight after all and we were able to get an early start in the morning before the rain came. (whew). Knoxville is a very busy and congested city! Driving though TN., I was able to remove my ‘Polartec’ fleece jacket as well as my sweatshirt, by 9:30 am (CST) it was 70º! I was pleasantly surprised to pass Chattanooga (♫ “pardon me boy….is that the Chattanooga Choo-Choo…..Choo……Choo….”♫)….sorry…..I break into song every time! I did post a few highway pics here…..simply because I got such a ‘kick’ about Chattanooga.
Our third night was in Greenville, AL. It was HOT!! It was in the 80’s when we arrived at 3:22 pm. Unfortunately, we had run into some of that rain between Knoxville & Greenville and had to stop several times because of the wipers. Don’t know if you remember last year, when our wipers actually broke off, well that didn’t happen, but one wiper got stuck, which caused both of them to stop working, so we did have short spurts of ‘hairy’ driving in the rain until we were able to get to an exit to pull off. Jim was able to make some repairs
and we were on our way again. (No, Evelyn, an extra pair of wipers wouldn’t have helped). I did take a few ‘pics’ in Alabama – at one stop, I was delighted to see pink flowers on the shrubs. Alabama was fairly green for Dec. The deciduous trees had lost their leaves, but the shrubs were all green and the grass was pretty green. Also, take a look at that bridge we had to cross as we entered Mobile County! Holy cow! We weren’t expecting this!
We arrived at our destination in Biloxi at 11:00 am on Friday. The RV park is very small, but nice. People seem to be friendly. For under $600.00/mo., we get electricity, WIFI, cable TV and a good sized cement site & patio area. This is a pretty good deal as far as RV parks go. Oh yeah…..and free lunch every Saturday. Yesterday was fried chicken, corn, baked beans, potato salad, rolls & beverage (all you can eat, of course).
Don’t know what next Saturday will be – we will find out soon enough!
Jim has been thinking about ‘gulf shrimp’ since we left home – so shortly

"pardon me boy - is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo" after we arrived, (on Friday) he asked our neighbors, Jim & Betty for a recommendation to a local restaurant. They recommended ‘Shaggy’s’ on the gulf. Ummmm……did I mention that we are just a few min. drive from the actual gulf?? I mean like white sandy beaches for miles and miles and miles……seems to run all of Rt. 90. Well, anyway, Shaggy’s sits on the beach. It was a nice, casual place with good food (Jim had his gulf shrimp) and I’m sure we will go back there before the month is over.
Back to yesterday, Saturday, was a VERY cold day. It was 80º when we arrived on Friday (I think a good sign), but the high yesterday was 47º! WOW!! What a difference a day makes! We have been told ‘that’s December’. Never know from day to day – today it is in the 50’s, but it will be back to the 70’s by the weekend. 60-70’s is average for this time of year….they were having a ‘heat wave’ when we arrived, then a cold front came through and by the weekend, it should be back to ‘normal’. In the morning, before our ‘free lunch’ we
took a ride along the coast. Rt. 90 – (also named Beach Road). Jim had found a couple of yard sales – we stopped at one – didn’t buy anything – then there was a Flea Market in a neighboring town he wanted to check out. Not a lot of people there due to the cold weather. Jim is hoping that we can ‘set up’ there at least one time before we leave. Then, we came back to the RV park for our ‘free lunch’, then back out again. This time to check out Rt. 90 in the opposite direction. Jim wanted to find the Biloxi casinos and so we did. We stopped into only two. Boomtown – we didn’t stay too long (Jim’s luck wasn’t running) – and then we went to the Hard Rock. Jim was able to play longer there. There are many $5.00 BJ tables, even on a Saturday. We are thinking partly because Dec. is ‘off’ season in Biloxi and also the economy hasn’t fully recovered from ‘Katrina’. We have been told that Biloxi is ‘mostly’ recovered, but not completely. On our ride to find the casinos, we happened upon a ‘craft’ market, which is

look at all those houses - way up there! part of Biloxi’s “Christmas in the city”. Lot’s of local crafters & vendors. On the way home from the casinos, it was dark enough that I could get some ‘pics’ of the lights in Biloxi’s ‘town green’.
I think that pretty much sums up things for now – just wanted to let you know how things are going. I will write again when I have more ‘pics’ to share and/or we do something exciting or unusual.
Stay warm & safe.
Linda (& Jim)
ps......you computer tekkies out there.....I have configured my wireless printer to our rv park wifi (properly) - I have configured my laptop to the same wifi - I have even changed my printer IP address within my laptop - but my laptop still cannot find my wireless printer - what am I missing?? (yes, the printer works with the usb cable - but the point of a wireless printer is that I should not need it).
