Katie and I headed North boarding the local bus from Chiang Mai to Pai, we were warned of the windy road up and was told that the journey was pretty testing on the stomach. Stopping at a dodgy pit stop on the way was another Milo and Mento overload! When arriving we knew we had a rough idea of where we wanted to stay, it was just a case of finding it. We fancied little straw huts and had read about a little place called river lodge that had just that. Pai it's self was so small you could walk round it in less than an hour, it had a 70's fibe, it was quite clear why it was classed as being part of the hippy trail. Mistakingly so, Katie and I asked an English girl ... read more

Arrived in Kaula Lumpur after nearly missing our flight from Tawau, it was a close call. Had a 3 hour bus ride to Ipoh where we stayed at the Golden Inn, sounds really cheap and it was! The next day we visited the local shopping centre, I am loving the Asian fashion, Bought some snazzy shorts as mine were falling apart after wearing them repeatedly. Bought some snacks for the bus ride as we were planning to head straight to the Cameron Highlands, Mark has an addiction to Bombay mix but I stuck with my usual Mento's and Milo, you dont get bad breath that way lol. As we arrived at the bus station we soon came to realise the bus was full and we were going to have to wait 3 1/2 hours for the ... read more

I spent some time in the executive lounge in Kuta airport before boarding my flight, it was only 10.00$ and it was the only place with internet not to mention the unlimited supply of food and beer. I arrived in Sarawak, Kuching around 10pm. I had a free transfer from the airport to my hostel, he was a nice man very talkative. his cab was filled with cuddlely toys and pictures set amongst his fury dash board, it was like his own little home, he loved squeezing his teddies as they would say "I love you" in a squeaky voice, he thought it was funny even on the 10th time! I wasnt sure if I was in a cab with a crazy man but if I was he was a nice crazy man so it was ... read more

I decided to fly to Chang Mai instead of getting the night train due to all the protests going on. The flight was really cheap and it only took an hour to get there. When I arrived in Chiang Mai I made my way to Julie’s Guest House. Once settled in my room I went to grab a beer out the fridge, they had a trusting policy, you just helped yourself to drinks and wrote what you have taken in a book. Even When the owner’s had packed up for the night you still could help yourself to the supply of beer, I couldnt imagine this working too well at home. I was sitting in the chill out area, I had been there for about 30 minutes when an Australian girl called Katie had asked to ... read more

My flight to Jakarta was funny I was the only English person on the flight with no other speaking English apart from the studdess. The emergency crash procedure was not repeated in English either which was a realisation that I was far away from home. The imagration cards were in English though which was'nt helpful to the rest of the people on the plane. As soon as one Indonesian waved her card and pen at me to assist her I seem to have a queue of people wanting me to complete their cards for them intrusting me with their passports, I should have charged commission. As I entered the arrivals hall I was bombarded with taxi man, the only thing they could say was taxi and after an hour of it I found myself loosing my ... read more

I was a bit nervous when heading for the boarder into Malaysia because I had thrown my departure card away that they gave me at the airport which you need to exit Thialand, what a num nut! It was all ok I put on some English charm and the officer was in a good mood that day so I got through without any problems. I wont be throwing bits of paper away again in a hurry! When arriving at our hotel everyone was pretty beat so we just headed out for some local food, and of course tried the local Jazz beer which was not very nice really fizzy and had a horrible after taste. In the morning we all went out for a chinese breakfast 'Yum Cha' it was really good apart from the chicken ... read more

Arrived at Ben's place in Krabi around luchtime, the first hotel that had a pool, really needed a dip! We grabbed our hotel key to find we were in the basement which meant going down many flights of stairs as there were no lifts! I hate not having anyone to carry ny bags, I am only little I wasnt build for all this lifting. Lauren chucked hers down the stairs instead of carrying hers I sweated it out. Our room was really nice fully air conditioned which is a must out here! Got my bikini on and headed to the pool. The pool was in the middle of two buliding which was weird. After a quick dip I got changed and headed out to the market with Brittany, we had such fun haggling with the locals, ... read more

I Boarded the overnight train from Bangkok to Surat Thani around 6.30pm, was going to be a 12hr journey and I was imagining sharing a carrige with live stock and smelly locals who would be keen to eat westerners for breakfast. I can happily tell you it was nothing like I imagined, the seats were bigger than normal so you could spread out on them and you had fold away tables. The first thing that we were given was a Singh beer and a dinner menu. I was told to give this meal a miss, food on a Thai train sounds a bit dodgy. We set off around 7pm, the train was pretty fast and noisy but you got use to it quite quickly. I was facing the way the train was going and saw a ... read more

Thanks to my good friends I was able to sit in the free luxury lounge at Heathrow while waiting for my flight to board and travel in business class all the way to Bangkok. A three course meal with champagne cocktails was on my menu I also had my own little private area with a chair that converted into a nice comfy bed, all electric of course so fun playing with the buttons. During dinner I met a lovely couple who had been together for 43 years, just reaching retirement they had decided to travel the world together, it was so sweet, I managed to get some good traveling tips off them too. After my fillet of beef and gorgeous dessert I was given my own PJ's to change into settling down to watch the Time ... read more
