On the 6th I left the easy life of Palolem and ventured once more into the crazy world. I traveled on a train which took about 9 hours and then arrived in the fascinating ruins of Hampi. I stayed in a guest house that you had to cross the river to get too. I did some exploring, the pictures will tell you more! It was all occupied in the 13 hundreds, a massive civilisation. Chett, whom I met in Palolem, came to meet me on the 8th and we cycled and explored for 3 days, so nice to have someone to share your experiences with for a change and do something different! We had such a good time and many stories were exchanged! He did a 4yr travel stretch before, is now a school teacher and ... read more

Palolem beach is beautiful. It's just like a postcard with the curved bay and hundreds of palm trees at a slant, looking towards the sun. I am staying pretty much on the beach whichis great, accomadation was very easy to find! Meeting lots of people and went to a great Party on christmas eve, so all is good. I am sorry to report that that is about it, just lying in the sun, with white sand, occasionally going for a swim and then playing volley-ball untill the sun sets :) Had a fantatsic birthday which was celebrated two nights. Someone even bought me a bottle of champagne! Have met some really fantstastic people here which makes all the difference. New years was amazing aswell, dancing on tables etc. However I did manage to stand on loads ... read more

Well I left Pushkar yesterday on the bus, few hours to Jaipur, got a hotel and jumped on a plane this morning to Goa. Much nicer 2hr journey rather than a 30 hour train journey! So have arrived and am staying in a kind of private house, really big room and balcony, which I actually found on the internet through couchsurfing.com! Just an amazing site. Am going out for supper with the person's house's friend who arranged it. Strolled along the bach today in about 30 degree weather which is very nice too. Even though this is a quite place there are loads of tourists here and really very sociable! So woke up this morning and walked to the beach and layed there allll day :) The water is so warm!... read more

Yesterday I went on a camel Safari which was just amazing. Some of the other people didn't turn up so Johnny the camel had to go by himself (with no friends). He did not like this atall and made alot of fuss, this was very amusing as two of us were on him. He left spinning around and trotting off, was hilarious. Anyway we went to this guy's house where whilst I ate some lunch cooked by his family he fixed Johnny up to a cart, so he thought he 'had a job to do'. I wasn't very happy about this but it turned out to be really good. We travelled around the desert going up and down sand dunes and around mountains. We sat in the cart to being with and then later on, I ... read more

I left Jaipur yesterday and travelled on two buses to get to Pushkar, a little town in the desert. Much nicer than all those big city's - I feel as though I can breath! It is set round a small lake with various hills around with numerous temples on top. I think I will stop here for a while :) I went for a walk yesterday and planted myself on the egde of the waters watching the sunset. Within minutes more and more people kept turning up, as many westerners as Indians, juggling, doing circus tricks, playing musical instruments, beggers, people selling stuff, priests, animals. Then a team of drummers came up and started playing and this man with a head and face of grey hair starts going CRAZY to the music, dancing everywhere, up and ... read more

Left Agra yesterday morning and fought with the cyclerickshaw most of the way telling him I did not want to visit any shops e.g. carpets thankyou very much. Jumped on a bus and proceeded 6 hours to Jaipur. Jaipur is a massive city and once we turned into the bus station about 100 rickshaw drivers etc hounded the bus, banging on the sides and trying to see who was inside..pretty hairy stuff! Anyway I jumped off the bus and guess what DIDN'T have to fight with a driver to take me to my hotel. Excellent. Well I didn't like the hotel I had booked or the three after that, if it's not right don't do it. 4th time lucky was great, and I got upgraded! Really nice little guesthouse tucked away with greenery around. Nice. Went ... read more

Woke up early this morning and was in the Taj Mahl area by 7am. Unfortunatly it was a bit cloudy..however just a fatastic building and hard to comprehend the size of it! Very beautiful though. Ended up some army soliders wanting lots of photo's! I find Agra a hilarious place. It has a really nice friendly feel to it but as it says in the guide, too many tourists with too much money make this a haven for touts and shops...everywhere you go it ''Rickshaw ma'am'' , ''Postcards ma'am'' , ''Come try our restaurant, lovely food'' , ''Just see, not buy ma'am''. I find this all very funny and walk down the road with a massive grin on my face. Anyway I am not staying here and have booked a bus for tomorrow to Jaipur (About ... read more

Well I left Rishikesh at 6am on the 2nd of Dec (by myself) with the aim of arriving in Agra. However somehow (some 12 hours later) when I was supposed to get off, a misunderstanding happened and I failed to do so. This meant I arrived in Gwoliar. I was pretty annoyed with myself and after much deliberation I got off at Gwoliar, found a rickshaw that i didn't have to fight with and went to a hotel. (Gwoliar is only about 2 hours from Agra so it wasn't too bad.) This lonely planet guide saved my life! Just a great book. So I stayed the night there and actually went and saw a pretty amazing fort in the morning so all was not lost. I guide hunted me down and took me round and in ... read more
