So we pedalled behind the boat , or trying to keep the space between uthanks the motorboat as small as poss but most times we were a bit behind... Nonetheless our skills improved, I have to say mine box I be never pedalled in my life and by the end I could control the boat!! I reached the boat which was stopped and Jo told me that I had to save a bird that they found in the bush. So I went in with the boat trying to get the bird which was doing rounds trying to escape me, but finally I caught it .Deposited on the boat I was free to pedal away but not for long becauseowe we're at the clear and we needed to go baas to have the longed for shower. Going back to the original camp was relatively faster than reaching it, but thank god we went pronto because we were all starving! We had some amazing pancakes with manioc a, delicia:) after that we had to fish for baits because we were going fishing! The guides went to look for some kind of nut that produces the fireflyI thaT in the process is a worm, we wanted the worm. We got a few and we started fishing and then moyseuc offered us a worm, we thought he was joking do Joanna asked him to have half of it. Probably grossed out to eat them raw he grilled them in the fire and he gave us our share.... I was kind of curious but grossed out and did not want to put that thing in my ... read more

After our amazingexperience of the Inca Trail we continued our trip to our last destination on Peru... Usually you say last but not least but in this case I´m afraid it was so. We arrived at the airpost and as soon as the door opened a guy called our names, he helped with our bags and then he escorted us out to our guide Luis. Luis had a friend with him, Marden and he said that he would join us on our expeditions in the Peruvian jungle. And why not, the more the merier... We went to our hotel for the night and in the morning this friend of our guide came to take us to Belen floating Market. The place smelled very bad. We had to breathe through our mouth but the smell was normal bearing ... read more

Manaus - /Boat Ride to Turtle Lodge The most amazing experience to date. Seriously it was beyond what we expected. Dead tired from the several plane delays we arrived in Manaus, we were picked up by the person that would be our guide for the trip, Samuel and we were first driven to the 'port´ from where we got a type of speedboat to a town called Sao Joao:) In those waters you can see the Amazon River joining with the local waters, really interesting there is a difference in the colouring and also the water temperature. After arriving there we were packed in a VW van to take another boat ride to the lodge where we would stay. The lodge was a really cute place. All the guests had a nice room ,with ac or fan that ... read more

So we are officially back from the Trail back to civilisation!!:) it took some time to get vack, believe you me, there was a landslide that prevented the trains from passing so instead of the 4 o click train we had to be on the 9 ' o click one!! Back to the real adventure now!! What can I say now, only that we were cursing Kai & Kerry on the 1st dayfore recommending us the hike!! Seriously thank you guys:) it was hard but we made it. What you can see on that trail is unimaginable, the views spectacular, makes you wonder how and why the Incas build the trail at those areas. From what we learned from our wonderful guide Hilbert, Cuzco was the middle of the earth for the Incan civilisation , and when ... read more

So we both ended with the unfortunate event, first it was jo and then me!! Hurray!!!NOT . We haven't even been to more than 1 country, so very unfair... We were thinking that it might have been their cuisine that caused this so we decided ater a day,to have a break from it and got PizzA Hut instead, after that we felt better and it stopped at least in my case;) In a more serious note in the morning we had a city tour of Arequipa which was very informative. Our guide explained us moreover detail how the town got the name (White City), it was because it was the first city that was inhabited by the white people- the Spanish , because of the white volcanic ash, and Arequipay because in Quetchuan it means it ... read more

As it's understood we did not have access to the Internet or even phone because we were up in a canyon. The Colca canyon, which is even bigger than the Grand Canyon in the States. It's a really long way to reach it, imagine that we started at 8 in the morning and we reached the main town at 2 . Arequipa Arequipa andthe surrounding towns are build from volcanic ash, and it's needless to say that theyexploit it as. Est they can, the have their volcanic springs and even more they have a cementfactory that uses the white volcanic ash to produce their cement. This Factory is in Yura. Another interesting fact about Arequipa is that it was divided into 3 sub cities Arequipa and 2 others that were divided by Stradivari , namesakes are ... read more

So off we go to the airport again but this time not in a limo, or at least a not expensive limo. It was a nice black car again not so shiny but for a third of the price we got when we had arrived in Lima. Beeing in the airport a little hungry and looking for a place to seat, we went to our good friend starbucks... Some yummy frapuccinos featured on the board and me trying to be spontaneous decided to have a frapuccino algarrobina.. Algarrobina does the name sound familiar??? Guessing not!! Well at that time it didn t ring any bell to me either untill I took the first sip and then I knew and made the association algarrobina=carob. Ew yiak, stef was making fun of me and asked me how I ... read more

BeachWalk Most of today started with the plan , that we were going to take the tourist bus, or Turibus to see Lima, so we made our descent towards Larco mar, where the bus tour picks us up.We went along the sidewalk area of Larco mar , to find a way to go down to the beach area, because a) i wanted to put my feet into the Pacific, i was already mildly burned so sunbathing was out of the question and b) Joanna wanted to try Cebiche or Ceviche a local dish with raw sole with chilli and lemon. We walked along the coastline which worsened my burn , but i did what i planned to do, pretty scary to be honest- beach layout not the best. Normally there is sand and then the water, ... read more

Summary of the 1st day in Miraflores , Lima, everyone smells the bloody same deodorant, its a nice smell dont get me wrong, but it becomes tiring after a while. We became aquainted with it, whn the boys were spraying it yesterday before they went out, and then today in the morning we smelled it.. u get the picture. Today´s fail: trying to get a Peruvian sim card! Noone understands us, they wulndnt accept an id card, so we have to go to the hostel and get the passport, then no one bothered to explain that there wuld not be money in the card, i was in despair thinking that we would be unreachable, but then we somehow managed to top up the card!! Success!:) managed to phone our parents, but unable to send txts, but ... read more
