When we went down we stopped at Idaho Falls so I could take pictures of the falls but they did not have them "Turned On" believe it or not. The Snake river runs through Idaho Falls and from spring to fall (my best guess as I couldn't find anything on the Internet) the berm or wall lowers enough to let a select amount of water flow over onto the falls. So here are a few shots of the falls and a couple of camera-loving Canada Geese. We stayed the night in Helena and the next day in Calgary just in time for a blizzard to end our wonderful vacation. Until next year. Sandy, Janelle, Jason, Tyler and Kayla : ) The End Goodbye Toodleww... read more
Even though we stayed in Springfield on the way down to Disneyland we didn't go through the park because of the weather. We took a little bit longer again today, but it is hard not to because these parks are so beautiful. The kids thought that the mile long tunnel was pretty awesome. This park is not as red as the Valley of Fire but the views from up on top of the park are phenomenal. Enough typing, enjoy the pics.... read more
It was technically our last day in Disneyland but we were all "Disney'd" out. We had finished all of the rides and saw just about everything we had wanted so we headed for home. It was going to be a long drive. The first of two excursions that we had wanted to do on the way home was the Valley of Fire. It's about 35 minutes up the I15 from Vegas and then 20 minutes down Hwy. 169. It's only $6 to enter the park and well worth the side trip. The Valley of Fire was spectacular, as you will see from the pictures, parts of it are like desert and then all of a sudden these red formations start to appear out of no where. What is truly amazing is that there are pockets of ... read more
It was our 3rd and final full day in Disneyland, I'm not counting our day of arrival even though we were in the park by 2:00 pm. Today we did Space Mountain yet again as well as the "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" 3D show. While we were doing that Janelle & Kayla were in line for the "Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage". It is a submarine that doesn't fully submerge and takes 15 minutes to complete. It takes you through the Finding Nemo movie with underwater statues, animated fish and 3D video screens which were quite amazing. There is no flash photography or lighting assisted video but I did manage a few pics in the lighter areas without a flash. It wasn't technically a ride so there was no fast pass, but this was undoubtedly the ... read more
Another sunny day with enough cloud cover to keep the temperature around 20 degrees. We spent most of the morning in Fantasyland. Janelle took Kayla on some kiddie rides including Dumbo, The Mad Tea Party and Alice in Wonderland. We all went on the Storybook Canal Boat Ride. Next we headed off to Toontown. Jason got most of the Autographs here in about 45 minutes. I had the opportunity to do some flash photography in Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin. Jason and Tyler thought Toon Town was very cool because everything was, of course, toon-like as you can see from the pictures. We took a tour through Mickey Mouse's house and he just happened to be in his personal studio shooting Fantasia. So he took the time to stop for a couple of pictures with us ... read more
It is hard to believe that the last time Janelle and I were here was on 9-11. Last night was fun just showing the kids around the park and going on a ride and then heading back for a dip in the pool to release all the built up energy from being in the van again. Now for our first full day at Disneyland. We started our morning off with breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney is actually a free street area between Disneyland and California Adventure full of shops kioks and restaurants. Everything from ESPN Zone to Jazz and Blues Clubs to Candy Stores. Of course there is Disney shops and kiosks for face painting, portraits and magic among others. We bought Jason a Disney autograph book that has a place ... read more
The day started out cloudy but was very nice by the time we arrived in Anaheim. There must be an Alien "thing" down here because we first had the Alien glasses at the Hoover Dam and then we saw a sign for Alien Fresh Jerky (pics included). We stopped in to see if the Jerky was any better than up here but it wasn't. They had samples of the jerky but they didn't really have much taste. They should have kept the samples hidden because I didn't by any after eating a sample. I did pick up a bottle of Hot Sauce (357 MAD DOG Hot SauceTM **) and it measures 375,000 on the Scoville Scale. Jalapenos measure 2,500 to 8,000 and Tabasco sauce measures 2,140. So Rocco, have I got a sauce for you to ... read more
No not what you think. We went for a walk down the strip today and took the kids to the obvious (to me anyway), the Apple Store. Then we infiltrated Caesar's Palace. The kids thought that the Atlantis show was very cool. Unfortunately the fountain water show in the forums was closed so the kids didn't get to see that. We then took them to the always cool, exiting 3 stories of fun — FAO Schwarz toy store. Of course they wanted everything and didn't get anything. But we did play on the "Big" movie keyboard for an obscene amount of time. They have a three story Trojan Horse and thought it was funny when I mentioned that they had just walked into the horses "Butt". By that time we all had really sore feet, so ... read more
We decided to take a little jaunt to the Hoover Dam. I plugged Boulder City into the GPS because Hoover Dam wasn't in it for some reason. So we are driving along and the GPS tells us to turn from the I95 onto the I93 which I thought was kind of weird. Janelle was napping and he kids were watching a movie. Then it says "your destination, you have arrived", I downloaded a Yoda voice, that is why the english is different. But there is no city in sight. So I thouht I would continue for a little while longer. Then Janelle woke up and said "are you sure we are going the right way". We have been using this GPS for the last year and have never had a wrong direction but we turned back ... read more
As I mentioned in the email, Circus Circus (CC) wanted to charge us $12.00/day for the internet and I thought that was highway robbery so I will try and catch up over the next day or two. We left Springdale early and made our way to Las Vegas. We arrived fairly early and decided to check out all of the hotels amenities. We first went to the Adventure Dome (AD) and were disappointed that the rides were mostly geared toward older kids. Then we went to see what the pool was like and we were disappointed in the size and cleanliness. It appears that it is a shared pool with the KOA campground that CC owns that is located right beside the hotel. Also the fact that in order to get to the pool we had ... read more
