Dedicated to Jaspreet Singh Laly - RIP! My placement finally ended after 4 weeks of invaluable experience at the Sri Ramachandra Hospital. During my rotation on General Medicine, i met some great people whom i will surely maintain contact with. Special thanks must go to Dr Sujatha, Dr Rupesh and Dr Bala. Dr Sujatha, the assistant chief, was always willing to teach, and she made sure i viewed the wide variety of clinical cases accountable in Chennai. Dr Rupesh is probably the most intelligent doctor i've ever met. He's still a PG doctor, yet he can quote most medical textbooks and journals whilst maintaining great humility. His desire is to work in Chandigarh, Punjab, which has an internationally acclaimed medical institution. I'm sure i'll meet Dr Rupesh one day, whilst on future travels to the Punjab. ... read more

Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! Bollywood manages to churn out many movies per annum, with audiences around the world massing to billions. The cinema experience in India therefore becomes a logical outing to pursue. Navtej had booked the tickets through two work colleagues, who also joined us to watch the film "Hatrick". This basically has a cricketing themed storyline, thus guaranteeing it box office success in India. The cricket frenzied ensemble of indian fans adore anything and everything that relates to the respective game. The gathering of people outside the 14 screen complex truly reflected how popular hindi films are. There was an organised circus of film hungry enthusiasts anticipating the next film showing, whilst the meeting and greating of undoubted familiar faces ensued on this social night out. Screen 1 was our location, and ... read more
Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! Mamallapuram is 60 km south of Chennai, and offers tourist attractions with exotic beaches, as well as the famous historic temples. Navtej's increasing knowledge of Chennai ensures that no attractions will be missed out. The journey on East Coast Road had an aire of tranquility personified throughout. The Bay of Bengal was on our left, thus providing exceptional sights, also the road itself had a gracious presence in this peaceful setting. The journey lasted for 1 hour by car with the fitting music of Moby in the background. Upon arrival, the Pharangees were at large. This location boasts wonderful stone carvings embellished on the granite temples, making this a guaranteed haven for tourists. The Shore Temple is the most impressive artefact and has stood for almost 1400 years. We had ... read more
Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! Daytime on Saturday meant that Chennai sightseeing was the order of call. The places of visit included the Chennai Gurudwara, Beach and Memorial Plaza. All of the respective destinations provided some immense photo opportunites!... read more
Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! The arrival of Navtej from the UK implemented for many nights out during the week. This galvanised us to increase the pace further into the weekend. Friday provided a night out in Zara Tapas. A familiar surrounding which has now become accustomed as our "local". The crowd was vibrant as always, and everyone seemed to be easing into the weekend mode. The unfortunate performance of England's batting didn't deter Navtej. Plus, the female involvement around the bar was a pleasant distraction for me! Saturday night was geared towards the India vs Bangladesh cricket match. What a disappointment! The 3 hour coverage before the game had provided so much hope and promise...it was all forgotten by the disastrous showing of Team India. The Chola Sheraton Bar gradually became deflated and the ... read more
Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! Well, March 15th is the date of all dates in the calendar year. My humble existence began on this planet 23 years ago. Maturity is setting in hopefully, but the fun and frolicks will never end! I was not granted the presence of Balaji because of wifee commitments, yet this setback didn't deter both Navtej and I. Chola Sheraton was our destination. On entering this magnificent Hotel complex, we were both greated by a trio of spanish guitar musicians in the lobby. I could instantly feel a night of class and sophistication. We then moved on to the bar... a strategic resting point for singhs when pondering their next move. Pharangees were gathered in coalition watching the cricket, whilst Navtej ordered the first set of Kingfishers. The chique surroundings provided ... read more
Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! Only 2 weeks previous both Matt and I were partying in Sway Bar, Central London, after passing our Final Medical Exams. Now our pathways met in Bangalore, where we had arranged to meet when in the UK. All was not easy when contacting Matt. He was based in a remote village 1 hours drive from Mysore, and had limited facilities with regards to internet access. The ever present mobile phone reception in India would have been ideal, yet i didn't have Matt's indian phone number, and the UK Mobile lines continually cause problems (no surprise). Eventually a late night phone call from Matt was received on Saturday night... he received my e-mail stating my presence in Bangalore, and was coming for a visit on Sunday. Matt arrived in Bangalore at ... read more
Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! After the touring the Bangalore sights, a night out in the vibrant city was overdue. Balaji had arrived in a re-scheduled morning flight from Chennai. His wife had given permission for leave, and now the city life was upon us! This was Balaji's place of study during university, so he knew all the places to explore with regards to having an enoyable evening. We first embarked in a pub to have a few deadly kingfisher beers. Bangalore has a theme of having many pubs, not dissimilar to pubs in the UK. The students, locals and tourists coalesce to impede on the glorious offerrings of alcohol...well, they just have a good time basically. I was pleasantly surprised to see people gulping alcohol in huge volumes whilst being free-spirited in every means. ... read more
Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! My arrival at Shamashree Hotel was a pleasant journey from Bangalore airport. The general infrastructure could instantaneously be seen as an improvement upon Chennai. The roads are wider with less traffic attributable to the system. The buildings also have more promise, providing familiarity to a rather western city.. The saturday provided me with sight-seeing opportunities. The traditional tourist approach was actually quite essential because i had no knowledge of Bangalore, and no familiarity with the city as a whole. I arranged a driver through the hotel, with specific instructions to have a speed-guided tour of all the sights around inner Bangalore. Touring with a rickshaw could have provided a more feasible approach but this method has its limits. My driver spoke good english and soon began to extensively outlay the ... read more
