Long live Kingfisher beer!
Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!!

After the touring the Bangalore sights, a night out in the vibrant city was overdue. Balaji had arrived in a re-scheduled morning flight from Chennai. His wife had given permission for leave, and now the city life was upon us!
This was Balaji's place of study during university, so he knew all the places to explore with regards to having an enoyable evening. We first embarked in a pub to have a few deadly kingfisher beers. Bangalore has a theme of having many pubs, not dissimilar to pubs in the UK. The students, locals and tourists coalesce to impede on the glorious offerrings of alcohol...well, they just have a good time basically. I was pleasantly surprised to see people gulping alcohol in huge volumes whilst being free-spirited in every means. The atmosphere was different to UK, as there seemed primarily to be only a strong male contingent. However, fun was shared by all, without any threat of alcohol superseding any emotions. My only objection was the choice of music. The song selections so far in India have been hugely questionable. This time 80's pop/rock seemed to be the favourites. I feel this is something

India can maybe react upon...quickly!

The second bar was more to my taste. Eminem was being played when Balaji and I entered. I could feel the hip hop dance moves urging to be released, but i withdrew any temptation immediately. Again, there were primarily men in the bar. These folks seemed more subdued, probably from listening to a barrage of lyrics being screamed from the speakers - I love hip hop...but playing gangster rap in a bar at 8pm seems rather ill fetched.

Our final bar was where we both settled. This one was amusing. The bar was called Purple Haze and consisted of rebelling university students raving their antics through the sounds of heavy rock music. This music is not my favourite, but i can appreciate the genre through its vibrancy. These indian students were more than vibrant though - they were crazy; Beers were being downed, people were shouting (or singing), there was also an odd mosh pit...in general, this was not to be expected in India.
I found the whole situation intriguing. These oddly behaved students seemed to be the 'cool' crowd, yet they were far from it - I suppose different perceptions are held by people according to varied backgrounds and upbringings. In the UK, this atmosphere would certainly be construed as different.

A memorable night for both me, and Balaji.. We consumed copius amounts of beers and enjoyed the Bangalore night scene.

I certainly reccommend a night out in this partying city!
