May 22 We were home for a complete day and I went to work the next. There are so many things to be done here I cant catch up. And my neighbours think I am crasy because we were home for two nights then went away to Williams lake for work. Shelly and Bianca came down for a visit. It was so awsome to see them againa nd to see Shelley healthy again. It was a good time. And now I'm back in the full swing of work. It'll take a bit to get motivated but I am doing my best. May 14 Leaving Namibia and the Knightly’s Dakotah and I both woke up before 8am then we got carried away in conversations. Trevor and Dakotah exchanged e-mail addresses and Charlene and I talked about how difficult it will be to present the things we learned and have it sink in with people who are not mission minded. Or to those who have certain views of missions work. With our brief time we have not experienced all of what it means to be a missionary but our exposure really shows that short term missionaries can be effective and make a difference but [View Full Entry]

May 11, Friday More Dunes, Some Atlantic Ocean and Back to Okahandja OK I lost a day somewhere. It was hot outside at 8:30 am this morning. I woke up feeling refreshed, had a cup of Ricoffee and some breakfast that was provided with the room. Then we packed up to head off to the dunes. When we lined up to pay for our rooms we were told that the owner wanted us to pay only half of the already low rate that we were quoted. What a blessing. It is really great to be with Charlene for these types [View Full Entry]

May 9, Thursday Swakopmund - Walvis Bay We all got up early today. Charlene, Trevor, Tavis, Megan, Dakotah and I got away from the house before 9am. We stopped for one pee break on the way. Just before getting into Swakopmund Charlene got two big chips in the windshield from a sand truck throwing out rocks. First thing when we pulled into Swakopmund we went to a Pick and Pay Grocery store to get some tape for the windshield and we picked some lunch food too. We visited the snake farm too. That was very cool. They told us about all [View Full Entry]

May 8 Cheetah Farm We had a great sleep and slept in a little bit late to make up for the sleepless bus ride the night before. Charlene and Pete are great hosts. They make us feel at home. Dakotah especially felt at home because there was a bird there. Unfortunately the little guy died that night. Pete, Charlene’s husband, had to go North today to help with tiling the new Orphanage so he didn’t get to come on our adventures these next few days. Today we went out to the Cheetah farm outside of Okahandja leaving late morning. We [View Full Entry]

May 3 Hwange National Park OK I cried a little bit after hugs from Cilla and Jenni. We started off late leaving Jenni’s house at 8am. Somebody was using the car we had to take and he returned it late with the need to pick up a new tire. Time goes by quickly at 130 km per hour. We were anxious to see some wildlife. The company we are touring with is called Trackers out of Bulawayo Zimbabwe, Lovemore is the owner. He arranged this trip and had hired a Safari company’s truck and driver to take us around Hwange. That [View Full Entry]

May 5th Lion Encounter, Horseback Safari and Vic Falls tour Up early in the morning we went out to the Lion Encounter. That was a pretty great experience. There was lots of posing for pictures and petting lions. One of the lions was going to pick the hat off of my head with his teeth. They video taped the whole encounter and show everybody afterward. The DVD’s cost $40 US to purchase. That’s a little steep for most people. After the Lions we went the Horseback Safari. That was the best horseback riding ever. The saddles were even comfortable. We [View Full Entry]

May 6 Journey to Namibia I had a couple of hours sleep then woke up thinking about the logistics of the journey tomorrow. For about $40 savings for me I was causing Lovemore so much inconvenience and trouble. Then there was the uncertainty of the bus tickets because we never received the confirmation of the change. I kept thinking that I wished she handt changed the tickets. At 4am I picked up my book to read. I thought that the best thing to do would be to call the bus company in the early morning to see if we can change [View Full Entry]

May 2, 2007 Last day in Bulawayo This is our last day in Bulawayo. Yesterday we had a CHI board meeting to discuss our mission here and to see what was learned. As we were the first volunteers for CHI Zimbabwe it was a little bit jumbled but because of who we are we suited the part perfectly. The CHI people took care of us so well. We didn’t even get sick except one day for Kotah and some sniffles. We were useful and appreciated the entire time. We came with flexibility, few expectations, and willing to do what God [View Full Entry]
