Hello to all my friends and family! It's been just over 2 years since I've last written in here, can you believe it? In less than two weeks I leave for Mulhouse, France where I'll be living and working for 7 months! I'll be working as an English Assistant in a high school and middle school in the town of Illzach, which is right outside Mulhouse. I even calculated the distance from my apartment to the schools and it's about 1.5 miles! The first time I kept this travel blog while studying in France, it was a great way to keep in touch with all of you and keep you updated on my adventures! I thought I would send a "test blog" today to make sure everyone receives this since I've added a lot more people!!! ... read more

Hello to all! Today is my last full day here in France and I'm writing one last entry of what I've been up to before I head home tomorrow and can tell you all in person about my experinces. So this past week, since last Friday I've been doing some traveling. Last Friday night I left Montpellier for Germany to visit a friend. She lives in Stuttgart and studies in Reutlingen. I stayed with her till Tuesday morning. Saturday I went on a day trip with her and some other students from her university. We were in Southwestern Germany right near the Swiss border. We first went to this place called Lochmule where there were these obstacle courses high up in the air and trees. It was a lot of fun, and I'll have to show ... read more

Hello to all! I know its been a while since I've written in here but I've been busy here in France and so I'm finally taking sometime to update you all on my adventures. I had a great 20th birthday here in France about 2 weeks ago. Pamela made me a good dinner and a cake too with a candle, so dont worry- I had a birthday cake. The last weekend of April I went to Spain with my friend Amy and we visited Barcelona and Valencia. It was really nice weather there and they were two beautiful cities. We stayed 2 days in both cities and had a great time. We went to the beach, walked around the towns and did shopping. Barcelona was my favorite out of the two. We did a lot of ... read more

Bonjour! Friday morning I left for Florence, Italy to visit my mom and sister who were touring in Italy for two weeks with my sister's high school. It was about a 12 hour train ride with stops in Valence, Chambery, and Milan. When I finally did arrive, my mom and Mrs. Guest were there to greet me and it was nice to see my mom. I stayed with the group while they were in Montecantini Terme and we visited Florence, Siena on Easter, Pisa and Lucca. It was lots of fun and we had some laughs. I ate some of the BEST pizza i think i've ever had and i of course had some gelato,(i think one everyday). I saw the little sister and she was quite happy to see me. I brought her favorite perfume ... read more

Bonjour à tous! So, I know it's been awhile since I last wrote here but I've been busy lately and it's hard to dedicate some time to writing in this blog sometimes. Last weekend, I went to Toulouse to visit Robin, who is a kid that came and lived at my house on an exchange about 3 years ago. We've kept in touch off and on. Since I'm in Montpellier, I was finally able to go see him and meet his family. I took the train Saturday afternoon and it was about a 2 hour train ride. Robin and his mom met us at the train station. I then met his dad who was very happy to finally meet me and his sisters Louise, 14, Marguerite, 10 and Alice 8 were all so cute. My friend ... read more

So, for all my anglophone speakers I'm going to give you a little french lesson because my mom brought to my attention that some words like "coucou" that I use in my blog entries, not everyone will understand. therefore k.reilly comes to the rescue. lol so "coucou" is a way of saying hello and its very familiar..i guess its like the english comparison of "yoohoo" i dont know but i hope you all understand. oh and when i say "tout va bien" it means " all is well" voila (so, there you go; there you have it)..... a bientot mes amis! Bonjour! Tout va bien here in Montpellier. Classes are going well too. Satuday I went to the beach. I dont the name of it but its only a 20-30 minute bus ride from Montpellier. I went with my friend Amy and we walked up and down the beach for a little and I collected a few shells. It was really nice weather this weekend so it was the perfect time to take a trip to the beach. Sunday we had an excursion to Carcossonne and Narbonne. Narbonne is an old Roman port city and Carcassonne is a walled medieval city I believe. It was a fun day. We went with a group of international students from Germany, Taiwan, Japanese, etc, and the tour guide was really nice and he had had lots of energy.....He told us ... read more

Hello to all! Wow, I know its been a bit since I last wrote in here, but I haven't had the urge to write lately, so u dont have to worry about me anymore....lol Last weekend I went to the town of Arles which is about an hour by car from Montpellier with a friend of Pamela, my host mom, and three other americans. It's a nice city and it reminds a lot of Nimes with the big ampitheatre, etc. We spent the day there and even saw a bull show, (it wasnt exactly a bull fight like they have in spain..because in france they dont kill the bulls). We also went to the Roman baths and Roman theatre and visited a museum or two about the history of Arles. It was a very windy and ... read more

Hello from Montpellier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tout va tres bien! It's been one month since I've arrived here in France and I can't believe it. Much has been happening since I've written last time and I'm sure you have all been anxious to hear news from me. This past weekend I returned to Albertville in the Alpes and visited the family I stayed with during the summer of 2004. It was great to see them again and I think they enjoyed seeing me again. I left for Lyon after my class and arrived in Albertville a little after 9:30PM. Coralie greeted me "a la gare" and I was reminded that the number of bises(cheek kisses) in France is different depending on where you are....in Montpellier they do 3 bises whereas chez Coralie they only do 2 bises....really its too ... read more

Yesterday my friend Amy and I, spent the afternoon in the town of Avignon. It was about an hours train ride from Montpellier and it was a fun day. We visited the Palais des Papes, (The Pope's Palace) and the Pont d'Avignon. It cost around 7 euros to see both together with headphones that gave you a guided tour. It was a really nice day, not too cold, and I liked the town of Avignon. We walked around the town for a little and did a little shopping also. Classes at the Institute are going well. It's cool because there are so many people from all over the world in your classes. There are students from Japan and China, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, some Americans, Syria, Brazil, Argentina and the list goes on. It makes the classes ... read more
