One of the upsides to being on an exchange in Europe is that all the contries are so close together, so my host mum decided to take me and my two other Australian exchange student friends to Paris! We woke up at 5:30 am and hopped on the tram to Mannheim and the the train to Paris. It took us three hours to arrive at the Paris train station. After we arrived I first noticed that there was men from the French army everywhere holding the biggest and the most awesome guns I have seen in my life, they were there because of the big pickle the French government has gotten himself into. The train ticket concept in Pariswas the most confusing thing ever and we ended up buying the wrong tickets and all us kids ... read more

As You all know for the last couple of days it has been Christmas! Wooohooo! I had a wonderful German Christmas. On the 24th which is Christmas day it did not feel like Christmas at all, we didn't have a Christmas tree or any presents, so I went out shopping with the other Australian girl, We then I returned we had A CHRISTMAS TREE!!! It looked so beautiful, and it all matched! We set it up making sure it was up to Patrick's standards! At 6:30 my family and I went to church to hear about the Christmas story (which was of course in German) and sang Christmas songs (in German). Then we walked back to the house to find CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!! We standed around the tree and sang MORE christmas songs! Then opened our ... read more

There we bought a ticket to tour the castle, we made our own tea by put different herbs and spices in a bowl and crushing it. We were ment to follow a recipie but in the end we added almost everything in it! I'm not yet brave enough to try it! We toured the castle but unforchanatley did not go inside the main building. I took some great photos though!... read more

This weekend was a VERY busy weekend! On Saturday my host family took me skiing as we have been having so much snow. I woke up at 6:00 am in the morning for a 2 hour drive to the ski area. Once we arrived we split up and I went to the training and they went skiing. Training was good, I learnt how to turn and go, but not stop! I spent most of the time on my bum, face, back, belly, and not on my feet. I soon got the hang of it and was able to ski (veryyyyyyyy slowly) the little kids were faster than me! During the end of the day I stacked it really bad and did I huge tumble turn, belly flop, head stand, rolly poley, summersalt and ripped my pants ... read more

I did not get to play in the snow for very long as i had to go to Birgits aunties to bake Christmas cookies!!! And then go to her parents for lunch. I'm not sure what it was but it was yummy!!! When I returned I made a snow man! He was beautiful! :') Xoxo clancy... read more

Last night I went to the Mannheim Christams markets with 5 other girls that I have met from school. To get to Mannheim you have to go by train, so all the girls met at the train station in Heddesheim for the train the did not come... So we ended up taking a bus to the closest train station. (it was 0 degrees while we were doing all this) once hoping on the next train we realized we hopped on the wrong one so we got off that one and hopped on the correct train. Once FINALLY reaching out destination we walked around the markes that that were set around a "wasser turm" which means means water tower. The markets were full of yummy smells and happy people! It is definitely a nice place to be ... read more

Ok, so I thought it is about time I tell you about the little town I live in called Heddesheim! In opinion I would consider it more of a suburb. In Australia, to get to another town we drive through dessert, bush, forest, hills mountains or whatever landscape to get to another town! Here you just drivethrough another town. Heddesheim is a very cute little town with friendly people. It is surrounded by many towns which are old and have old houses, roads and old everything but Heddesheim is very modern and the house I live in is very modern. Although the house it modern it is still triangle like every other house whether old or new. I go to the Carl Benz Gymnasium school which is huge! There are more than 400 class rooms! I ... read more

Hello everyone! I have finally arrived in Germany after a long, long, long, LONG flight and a very numb bum. On the first flight I was sat next a girl who was the same age as me and we got along super well! We were into the same stuff and both love to talk. Which was good considering that I had to sit with her for11hours until Dubai. Once I was in Dubai, I started regretting wearing big fluffy ugh boots because even the airport was hot! The Dubai airport was pretty amazing, there are hundreds of planes lined up to land and inside there are heaps of shops and people. I was put in a room where the minors who don't have adult guidance go. It was full of big couches, bean bags and food! ... read more
