Hi. While doing my last post the connection was unbearably slow so I didn't get all of the pictures that I wanted to. Here are the rest of them. ... read more

Hello everyone. I've moved on from Guatemala and now I'm in Mexico. I went from Xela (Quetzaltenango), the point of my last entry, to the famed Semuc Champey. Semuc champey is a series of beautiful turqouise pools flowing through a natural bridge under which the raging river Kan-Ba flows. But better than the pools are the nearby cave. The cave has a river flowing through it so we had to swim with candles. There were some massive caverns in it with waterfalls and rocks that we could climb around on and jump off. There were also some really tight squeezes with just about a foot of room between the water and the ceiling. The cave tour was by far the best 30 Quetzales I've ever spent. I took a very long bus ride from there to ... read more

Hello, I'm in Xela (pronounced shayla). It's been raining pretty heavily for the past couple weeks. I've been enjoying my time here in Gautemala. It's beautiful and culturaly rich. The one bad thing though - the rain, but it's rainy season so what can I expect. Not going to say much on this post, but I got some good pics. Enjoy.... read more

Hello everyone. I'm sitting right now in Antigua, Guatemala. I arrived on the 18th after spending four nights at Copan in Honduras. Or was it three? I don’t remember anymore. I had a really good time there. I saw the ruins, which are the first Mayan ruins I've seen. They were really nice. The Copan Ruins are unique because of the intricacy of the carvings. The ruins are the big draw of the town, but the town itself is what held me up there for 3 or 4 nights. I met the right people and was sucked into some strange small town party vortex. I managed to escape, but now I'm in the biggest party town in Central America. My will is strong and my wallet is shrinking, so if all goes as planned I will ... read more

Hello everybody. I’ve moved north a country. I'm now in Honduras, which I'm cruising through very quickly. My last entry was made in Managua. From there I went up to León. I stayed four nights, not really doing a whole lot. I saw some really good live music, and a few movies in the theatre. It costs about $1.50 to see a movie and if you’re hanging around León during the day it’s a good cheap way to get out of the heat for a couple hours. So it's not a huge disappointment when the movie ends up being crappy. Out of the movies I saw "Capote" was my favorite. “MI3” was my least favourite. Leon is a lot like Granada, but it seems more alive to me. It's very politically charged, and is home to ... read more

I´m writing today from the gritty city of Managua. It’s my second day in a row here and most people who have been here would ask me why. I don’t really know why either, but I’m very comfortable. I’ve been reading, watching TV and wandering around a bit. I do plan on leaving tomorrow for León. One of Nic´s colonial cities. The liberal Sandinista one. When I wrote last entry I was on my way to Corn Islands. They were absolutely beautiful, and yes, expensive and time consuming to get to. Big corn lays 70k or about 45 miles of the Caribbean coast. Little corn is 7k further east. My journey there and back was full of Miscommunications and missed boats. There are flights from Managua but I couldn’t justify paying $180. I have a lot ... read more

Once again I'm in Granada soaking up the comforts of the city. I'm staying at the plush Hostal Oasis. I came in last night from Laguna De Apoyo, a beautiful crater lake about thirty minutes outside Granada. I spent three nights there at the Monkey Hut, which is right on lake. They have kayaks and tubes to float around on, so that pretty much sums up what I did while was there. Before going to Apoyo, I was on Isla Ometepe, in Lago De Nicaragua. I originaly planned to climb up both volcanoes, but I only made it up the smaller one. I spent the first night on Ometepe in Moyogalpa, The islands largest town. It was good friday. There was a Procession going around on the streets featuring a brutalized wooden Jesus and a band ... read more

Well it's been an awsome time so far here in Nicaragua. I'm now in Granada, going on night number four. Before I was at Playa Majagual, at a low budget beach resort, where I did nothing but surf, swim and party. I got my bank card situation taken care of. So now I have nothing to worry about. Granada is a great place for a traveller to go. It's a very old colonial city that's remained fairly well kept over the years. It also feels very safe. It has a good night life and a very big variety of cheap restaraunts. Also it has a good art scene. Most business' have local art work displayed on the walls. My favorite part of the city would have to be the central market, which is a massive conglomeration ... read more

Once again I´ve gone awhile without updating. On the last post I was waiting in San Jose for Keturah, Kelly, and Cronburg to arrive. They´re now all back in the land of paved roads and hot showers, and I´ve just arrived in San Juan Del Sur in Southwestern Nicaragua. Heres a brief summary of what happened in between. But first: Congradulations to Dad and Anette, who got married on the 31st. - Excuse me for the hangup Anette - My phone card ran out. Congradulations to Jeremy and Meagan on their upcoming wedding. I wish I could be there. Good luck getting into the bachelor party Anthony. Try groing a beard. Keturah arrived in San Jose a couple days prior to Kelly and Cronburg. It was St. Patricks day. Keturah was exhausted from travelling so she ... read more

Last time I updated I was in Golfito. From Golfito I went down to Pavones, a small surf town near the Panama border. I only stayed one night. I wasn't really in the mood for the whole surfer-fashion-show scene. I ended up staying in San Isidro the day I left. There's nothing in San Isidro, but I was able to get a new guide book. My own "walked away" somewhere in Panama. I find it difficult to travel without one, especially to place I've never been. I then went to Playa Uvita for the three nights I had before I had to be back in San Jose to meet Keturah (my sister). Uvita was tranquil as usual. There was a good bunch of people staying at The Toucan. I had a really good time with them. ... read more
