Wednesday I bought more shoes today. That makes 3 pairs, so one for each week I guess. Another wise thing my mom taught me is that shoes make the outfit so I guess I’m just listening to her. You’re welcome mom. We headed back to the first market that we went to the first Saturday to check it out one last time (that’s where I found the shoes). Mao taught us how to make Thai tea (a staple of my time here) and then took us to the grocery store to get some to bring back to the states. I got some tea and classic Ritz crackers for the plane (they’re gone already). We found a little shop that sold ice cream crepes in the shopping center where the market was so we swarmed. It was ... read more

I’m going to write about both of these days in the same journal entry since they meshed together. Traveling makes multiple days feel like just one super long day. Thursday was the day we officially left Thailand. I had been dreading Thursday night all week long. I tried to remind myself to enjoy every minute of my time in Thailand and to not focus on the fact that i was leaving. Thursday we went to the walking street by Nakornping hospital. I bought some last minute elephant pants, some rice cakes for the plane ride, and some watermelon. I wanted to eat as much fruit as i could before leaving. In the afternoon we had our program evaluation, which was okay. I felt like the people who were talking were focusing on the negatives and not ... read more

January 25th and 26th – Thursday & Friday Travels Our last day in Thailand and I wanted to soak up every moment of warm, sunshine, and love from the land and the people today. We started the day off slow and I brought my work outside to bask in the sun for a bit. I have been packing my things over the last day or so, so it wasn’t too overwhelming task as I thought. The main problem wasn’t space but weight in each bag and right up until I put my bags downstairs was I readjusting and moving thing around to get my one bag under the 50 lb limit comfortably. So many souvenirs to pack, we shopped so much! Today all the food has been our favorites: pad thai, mango sticky rice, moo ping ... read more

Today was an eventful day full of last minute purchases before leaving Thailand. ☹ We went back to one of the first shopping streets we went to and wandered around. I got some small purses for my buddies to put some of the smaller gifts I got for them in and I also got a wooden ladle for my mom made out of a coconut shell. It was nice to be back in the hustle and bustle of the Thai shopping scene one last time before heading home. I will miss these kinds of open air shopping markets when I go back home. After the shopping in the morning, we had some lunch and then had a meeting as a group to talk about some reflections on the trip and discuss comments we had about the ... read more

It’s Monday, and we were back to business. We were able to “sleep-in” and have breakfast at 8:30. I guess I’ll take what I can get. I had to spend the rest of my morning working on the presentation. I have a lot of work to do given that I agreed to make the powerpoint in addition to the researching. I using enjoy making powerpoints, but I’m feeling a little salty about it since other people are out having fun right now. I get a little “FOMO” when I’m doing schoolwork simply because I enjoy adventure and exploring. I felt rushed all morning but thank goodness I spent 30 minutes to work out, though it was just a short time compared to my usual workouts. Everyone seems stressed out of their mind, and I have no ... read more

One more day in Thailand, where has the time gone? Last night I didn’t sleep very well. I was restless, and my mind was going a thousand miles a minute. I woke up feeling tired and slightly strange. This morning we had bunny bunny and shrimp/rice soup for breakfast. I prefer the pork or chicken and rice soup over the shrimp, but it was still good. After breakfast we pilled into the blue bus and headed to another market/shopping area. The bus seemed empty without our buddies in toe. It was definitely a lot quieter and less entertaining. When we arrived everyone broke up into groups and started shopping. Melissa and I stayed together and searched for some treasures. Halfway through shopping I started to feel weak. I could feel the inside of my body starting ... read more

Today was our last full day in Thailand and now after the farewell party I am feeling all sorts of sentiment! To think back to our arrival at the airport and our first few days in Thailand, it wasn’t that long ago yet we have done so many things in between and gotten to know the Thai people around us well. It crazy to wrap my head around, even though Debbie tried to warn us! This morning my stomach hurt a bit, yet not enough to stop me from enjoying what I’m sure is our last breakfast with buddy donuts and glaze! Those things are seriously good and I am glad we didn’t learn how to make them, they are dangerous! My plate, half with delicious buddy donuts and the other half greens, carrots, and cucumber ... read more

Friday Dude. We went to Koh Chang today and I honestly had no idea that it would take a whole day to get here. For those who don’t know (because I didn’t), Koh Chang is an island off of the coast of Thailand and it is beautiful. Look it up. Seriously. The reason we were going here was because one of the nursing professors’ (at BCNC) family members owns a resort. A legit resort that people vacation at. It’s called the Chill Resort. Look it up. Or I’ll show you pics eventually. Anyways, we flew to South Thailand (I’m not totally sure where), but it was about an hour and 15 minute flight. Piece of cake after that 15 hour one getting here. As we landed, I was informed that it would be a 3 hour ... read more

Monday: January 23rd This morning I was able to sleep in until 8:00 which felt amazing. I had some breakfast and got ready for the day. Today was going to be more of a chill day as we had the morning off and then were going to sit in on a nursing conference for the afternoon. I was able to FaceTime with Alli and my parents who were watching the Eagles game and were keeping me up-to-date. I have missed so much football since I left but fortunately I will be home to watch the Super Bowl :) I let my food digest from breakfast and then around 10:30 I went for a run on a bike/walk trail along the main road outside of BCNC. Autumn and I ran almost 3 miles and returned to BCNC ... read more

This morning I did not want to get out of my bed. I was drenched in sweat but only because it was the first fluffy bed I’ve slept in for awhile. I had the piles bunched up all around me with the fluffy, thick comforter tucked into the pillow, a little cocoon. I sleepily walked my way over to breakfast and was very grateful that I had done so since it was an “endless breakfast.” We could anything from the menu as many times as we wanted. Of course I didn't want to get sick on the boat, so I had to pull out my self-discipline after my first round of breakfast croissants with coconut yogurt and fruit. I topped it off with fresh mixed fruit juice and the fanciest cup of cappuccino. Soon after, we ... read more
