Background: During the late 18th and 19th centuries, Great Britain established colonies and protectorates in the area of current Malaysia; these were occupied by Japan from 1942 to 1945. In 1948, the British-ruled territories on the Malay Peninsula formed the Federation of Malaya, which became independent in 1957. Malaysia was formed in 1963 when the former British colonies of Singapore and the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak on the northern coast of Borneo joined the Federation. The first several years of the country's history were marred by Indonesian efforts to control Malaysia, Philippine claims to Sabah, and Singapore's secession from the Federation in 1965.

I am back! Back to KL! Jebiga, ni padla Kambodza, ampak [View Full Entry]

Das beste Hostel ueberhaupt
China Town in KL
Die Petronas-Tuerme waren gigantisch

We left our place of paradise for the aiport in Bali at 630pm....the flight was continually pushed back 15 mins, 30 mins it left and hour and a half late....wasn't the worst delay, only Bali airport has not a whole lot to offer and has barely any seats worthy of sitting in....we managed however. We flew Airasia with no dramas and in 3 hours arrived in Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur Airport. It was 1am at this point...we had a plan in place to pay for the Plaza lounge they had at the airport. Sounded blissful, free flowing draught beer, food, comfy [View Full Entry]

Here are some pics of my trip to Kuala Lumpur the Capital of Malasia, overall it was a nice 4 day trip did lots of partying and saw some sites. Looking forward to my next visa run I am think Laos. Malaysian people are very kind, speak excelledn englisht and I ran into many backpackers which was a relief from the land of limited English and sexual tourists in Pattaya. Though make no mistake I do love Thailand and pattaya. I would hazard to say KL is the most modern city I have ever been too, so much money and business [View Full Entry]

Petronas Tower, Pride of Malaysia Official website The skybridge didn't do much justice to the Twin tower of Malaysia. After all, it was the world's tallest building at one stage. But sadly, the bridge is merely located at the 41st storey. I've 'conquered' Taipei's 101 building, Singapore UOB plaza, Tokyo Tower and now Petronas Tower. It has evaded me at least 3 times when I was there. In all cases, I always never manage to secure the free tickets that allows one free access to the vie [View Full Entry]

I don't catch many buses these days but I really enjoyed the goings on on the bus to Kuala Lumpur. It was a really comfy bus, with fringed curtains and and deep shag pile and a driver who must have been married to Nora Batty, because the floor was covered in newspaper so the carpet didn't get dirty. I was dropped off just outside KL and so had to catch a taxi to get me to my hotel. Its currently Ramadan here, so it really suprised me that I could get a taxi:) My hotel was very nice with a fantastic [View Full Entry]

Petronas Towers

After my early start I landed in Kuala Lumpur without an issue it was just left for me to meet up with Mum and Dad.... When I decided on this round the world trip Mum decided that she didn't want to go nearly 8 months without seeing me. After an initial debate about meeting me in Bangkok I convinced her Malaysia would be a better idea (Thailand and my parents wouldn't get along!). So a visit to Trailfinders later and Mum and Dad were booked on a 17 day holiday with business class flights to Kuala Lumpur and returning via Singapore [View Full Entry]

Singapore From Brisbane we flew to Singapore where we met my old chum, Jude, who kindly let us stay at her gaff. The first night we had dinner and a few beers before heading off to bed. The next day we didn’t manage to drag ourselves out of bed until 4pm but it was all good as there were huge rain storms!!! The second night we headed towards the waterfront and had dinner, v impressive. Thereafter, Jude, great tour guide that she is, showed us the Merlion, symbol of Singapore. It’s cross between a fish and lion which apparently represents Singapore’s [View Full Entry]

Kuala Lumpar tues 7th july Next destination, Kuala Lumpar. Arrived stupidly late at night, luckily was meeting Adam, a guy I had met in Lao all those many months back, so room and accomodation was sorted out! Accom was abit minging though especially as in most of SE Asia you can smoke everywhere and anywhere so was pretty gassed out in this place! Next day went mooching around KL, was a nice city in the business type area, nice botanic gardens but china town and the like were a bit dodgy! Had a good night out with Adam and co in [View Full Entry]
