Alt er smukt her, baade over og under vandet.

Hun snoed os for hele 30kr pr snude.. Ja den er god nok... Men vi fik da ... read more

We're now in Malaysia (!), country number 5 (not that we're counting!), and we've been to the extremes over the last week or so. From Singapore we got a very early taxi to Johor Bahru just across the border, and from there flew to Kota Kinabalu on Malaysian Borneo (the northern part of which is called Sabah). From there it was a short bus ride to the park offices for the Kinabalu National Park. When we arrived it was lashing it down with rain, but luckily for us that was the only daytime rain we had there, and the next few days were great. Rachel had an upset stomach that prevented her from reahing the top, but 2 days later, at about 5.30am Rhod and I made it in time for a great view and sunrise. ... read more

... read more

We took a speedboat out to Perhentian Kecil from the mainland-another bronco bucking ride! A girl I was travelling with and myself were the last 2 off the boat and the driver started yelling that we'd have to hurry and get off as he was easing close to a cement staircast out of the water up to the walkway. I had my backpacks on and managed to get my left leg up onto the staircase when he started drifting the boat away my right leg totally in the air! I wavered and nearly lost my balance and fell into the water but disaster was averted. We found a chalet on Long Beach which is a 10 minute jungle trek from the other side of the island and has the best swimming since the soft white sand ... read more

Hi all, hope you're all well. We're writing to you from a free Wi-Fi bar in Kho Phi Phi, Thailand. We've just had a nice breakfast and it looks like it may be sunny today....fingers crossed. Anyway, where did we leave off? I think we had just left Singapore..... We decided we'd like to take the jungle railway up to the north east of Malaysia so we spent a day travelling up to a place called Mentakab, via KL. Upon arrival, we checked into a hotel where the owner took a bit of a shine to us and she took us in the family car to find the railway station and and train times etc. Just as well as we probably wouldn't have found it. On the way back she stopped off and bought us coffee, ... read more

22 July 2008 Perhentian Island Early flight to KL and then on to Kota Bharu with Air Asia, the (better) asian equivalent of Ryan Air. While waiting for the boat transfer over to the islands, we realise we've left a handluggage bag ont the flight - containing snorkels, swimming gear, suncream, in short everything essential to our 5 days on the islands. A couple of hours later we hear they've located it and will get it to us the next day, amazing! The Perhentian Islands look just like tropical paradise islands should look. Palm fringed white sand beaches with a few wwoden huts on them with dense jungle rising behind. The sea is an amazing colour. Tuna Bayresort is a low key but well run bungalow resort, the rooms have aircon and hot water but are ... read more

It's been a crazy past week in Malaysia, but we've now crossed the boarder back in to the land of Thai! Our flight into Kuala Lumpur was slightly early..horrah! We found our gueshouse deep within the buzz of the city and chilled out before setting off to the KL tower to look at the views of the surrounding area. We had a venture to some beautiful lake gardens and wandered through some markets. An overnight bumpy bus ride took us to Kuala Besut where we arrived at 5.30am to wait for the first taxi boat over to the Perhentian islands. We stayed in a little wooden shack on Coral Beach which was very basic, but ideal. A snorkelling day trip was awesome....we saw black tip reef sharks, sting rays, lots of colourful fish and some turtles ... read more
