Greetings from Japan. Sorry for such a long time between updates but we have been soooo busy. We had a great time visiting Shinjuku, Harajuku and Akihabara so far. And we even found a sweet little shrine hidden in the middle of Shinjuku all by accident. We are having a blast. Check out the photos we have added. See you soon! Paolo P.S. - Rob and Theresa are both fine, and they said to say hi! P.P.S. - Photos seem to be not working. Hope to fix it soon.... read more

Hi y'all. I know that every time I post something it appears that all I am doing is partying. Well, while that is true.....I am indeed seeing some cool stuff. Take for example all of the cool shrines hidden in downtown mania Tokyo. I've included a How to Bow pic in case any off you to study up. So you can see that I actually am checking things out. No, there is no nightlife surrounding the spot where I took this pic and no it is not 6 am when Im on my way home. :) On a different note, the cherry blossoms are blooming! I have been hunting them down in hopes of the ideallic Japan spring photo, but I keep getting cloudy, grey sky days...nonetheless I will describe the view for you all! ... read more

We left our hostel today, and I can honestly say that it was nice to! They were very welcoming, but it was just too damn cramped in there. They did ask us to leave positive feedback on the website we booked it through, and in return they gave us 2 free nights stay to be used within the next year...I dont think we'll be using them in a hurry!!! Anyway, we headed to Yoyogi park in search of Goths and Punks! over here, they do take things to the extreme, they dont just play at things, they really put their heart and souls into everything they do, including getting dressed up in wierd and wonderful costumes. Every sunday, kids dress up as Goths, punks and anything else that includes trowelling lots of makeup on and using ... read more

Tokyo Times... Asia » Japan » Tokyo » Shinjuku By mark and chrissieApril 1st 2007Mark and Chrissie Hayward Day 4 - Today we headed for Shinjuku. Shinjuku station is one of the busiest in the World with over 2 million people a day passing through it - it was massive! And we got lost!Again! After a long trek through the underground paths we emerged into the skyscraper district of Tokyo and found our way to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building where you are able to go up to the 45th floor to a viewing area and look out over the city. The view was incredible and, supposedly on a clear day you should be a... read more

Hong Kong Sevens Our last day in Hong Kong was spent at the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby .We couldnt get tickets to the stadium as it sold out ages ago but we went into the village where they showed the games on a massive screen-it was ace!even though Im not a rugby fan. There were a few technical hitches with the screen but after 20minutes they managed to get the screen fixed- phew! just in time for England. It was nice to see England winning at something for a change!!They have won the past 4 out of last 5 tournaments apparently. Shame they crashed out to New Zealand in the end! Tokyo, Japan More hustle and bustle as we arrived on Saturday in Tokyo Japan! It even more chaotic to us than Hong Kong for several reasons ... read more

Hi everyone, As you are aware we have now embarked and safely arrived in Japan for the first leg of our epic round the world honeymoon. Having landed in Tokyo (Narita) on Tuesday we have had a couple of days getting over the jet lag and seeing and experiencing metropolitan Japan. We have always been excited about Japan and, having read up on the country and Tokyo, we were looking forward to the land of the rising sun, the meeting of east and west and the place where traditional meets modern! We were not to be disapointed and have in many aspects started this trip with a country i know will always have a special place in our hearts (and we are only 3 days in!). Anyway, taking a couple of steps back, the first night of ... read more

What a day we had, we finally got to our hostel, which was a mission I can say. Ive beenbooking all our hostels online and then taking directions of how to get us there, and some of the directiond arent really that clear, infact some of them are as clear as mud. We were told that once we get to our station, we had to walk straight for 2.5km and it should be on the right. So thats what we did, and when we came accross the tube station before ours, we then realised that something was up, so we jumped on the tube and headed back to our stop. Once there, we decided to go left out of the station and head the other way, not straight as the directions said, and the hostel was ... read more

After leaving the Capsule Hotel, we headed for our next hostel, in the same area so not much travelling. I'd booked us into a Ryokan, a traditional Japanes in which has tatami rooms(matted floors) that your not allowed to wear shoes in, so these come off before entering the rooms. Some places insist you take your shoes off as soon as you enter the building whether they have matted floors or not, but not many. In the corner is a rolled up mattress(like a futon I guess?) and blankets, and anything else you will need for your stay, its small and basic but freindly enough. Once settled we set out to see the sights. First off was the Tokyo Tower, very much like the Eiffel Tower, but taller. We headed for the observation deck(Mum you would ... read more

We get back to Tokyo and headed straight to Asakusa in search of one of Tokyo's famous Capsule hotels. We found one in one of our travel guides and headed straight to it, not knowing what was in store for us? All I can say is this, if you ever find yorself in Tokyo, stay in one for the night, they are brilliant! So easy to use, you just book in, leave your baggage safely at the front desk area and away you go! You get PJ's for the night, a razor, toothbrush and towels, all for about 12 quid! We decided to have a shower as soon as we'd booked in, which was an experience. The womens and mens showers are segregated(nothing unusual I hear you say,but some places its mixed!!), and both have a ... read more
