海南。Hainan The trip started by us waking up at 5 in the morning because it would take 2 hours to get to the airport. But still there was time for McDonalds breakfast. At the airport everything was made super simple by the tour guides who took care of everything. When we arrived in Hainan it was raining but still plenty hot. There we met our tour leader, he later became known as “the touch man”, such a touchy man, whenever he talked to us he always had to be touching someone, turned into quite a fun game. On the bus we had the first of many many games of Uno and at our first stop I was finally able to buy a swim suit which had been such a mission for the last week. Unfortunately swimsuits ... read more

1 beer $2 BBQ street food $1 Fresh fruit pocket change Bottle of water $0.25 Five weeks holiday in the tropics in the middle of winter .........priceless Yes, we are back in Sanya on the south coast of China for the first week of our Spring Festival holiday. Once again we are pigging out on Western food for now at Fat Daddy's and Casa Mia, both a five minute walk from where we are staying. We have had breakfast at Fushan Coffee down the road a couple of times. They don't quite have the North American breakfast thing worked out but it is close enough and the coffee is delicious. They have bacon and eggs, along with a variety of other breakfast choices. And the orange juice is squeezed as you wait. After several months in ... read more

More beach today, after looking for a break this was the spot but nearly time to go. Very hot and nice to have a paddle. We indulged in some western food and I had creole chicken, and Laura a caesar salad. Not much afternoon sun so chilled at the hostel, and took a late night stroll on the beach. Back to the hostel with some beers, and a chap at the hostel was making food. DUMPLINGS!! Really good. As another bloke was leaving in his taxi the dumpling man chased him shouting "wait dumpllings" as he had made another batch, you had to be there, but it was so funny, a memory that will stick in my head. Had a little chat with all the others staying at the hostel then had a relatively early one ... read more

Another beach day! Lunch was at our noodle hut, we had a random array of veg and rice instead today. Later back at the beach Laura had a fresh coconut, chopped open with a machete and given a straw, pretty cool. She had been hinting at one all week so I thought I would spoil her. Did some more sun bathing and saw a fancy photoshoot on the beach. In the evening to save on the pennies we bought some red wine from the superstore and got some plastic beakers, and sat at the beach to watch the sunset. This was some romantic James Bond style stuff I had concocted here!! Was very cool. Afterwards we had a hot pot, quite spicy but good. ... read more

The morning was quite overcast so we dilly dallied abouth the appartment till early afternoon. By about 1 the sun was beaming again and we were off to sunbathe again. We saw some guys carrying big alligators and pythons down the beach so got some snaps. Had a swim in the sea which was a nice refreshing temperature, was a really nice afternoon. We did some sunbathing and all was relaxed and then Laura jumped up screaming, with no top, and giving the whole beach a show!! I was really annoyed as you could imagine about being disturbed, to find there was a crab the size of my fist on her towel and chasing her. SOOOOO FUNNY!! I shoowed it away and laughed at Laura and that gave me a giggle for a few hours. That ... read more

After some breakfast we headed straight to the beach. Very hot again. I left Laura to the sun bathing and i went for a wander on the rocks and found some beings of the shelled, and mollusc variety. On my adventure i found loads of really cool crabs and had black spots on their backs, far superior in appearance to Welsh crabs. Afterwards I threw some rocks in the sea, climbed some cliffs, kicked some sand, the usual manly things; was good fun despite lacking a bucket and spade! Tea was late and was noodles and veg which was quite late. So afterwards we grabbed some beers and watched a film at the hostel.... read more

We heard about a 'WESTERN SHOP' (Corners Deli); suprisingly not on a croner, but i digress!! We went searching. To our suprise is wasnt a myth but in fact a reality. It sold Cereal, so we bought some chocolate corn flakes and some milk, and thought we were the kiddies on our way back to our hostel to eat it up. It had been a very long time, and dearly missed! Weather was not so fabulous today, warm but not sunny so we chilled at our hostel. Dinner, not much different, the noodle variety, compliments of Laura. For tea however, overly enameled by the new find, I went to my new shop and came home with IN DATE crisps and some cake, GOOOOOOD!! Not had anything sweet for a very long time.... read more
