These past three months have been the most life changing. I have seen God answer prayers before my eyes, seen Him lead me to verses I desperately needed and shown me who I am when I stand firm in His promises. I knew coming to Africa would change me but I never imagined how much. The past week God has given me such a peace in my heart about my future. I have fallen madly in love with my Father, Creator and God. I don't know where I will end up, I don't know where God will lead me and I don't care. As long as I am seeking His face and longing to know Him more, everything will flow from that. We have been spending the past few weeks visiting the homes of the children ... read more

Here is another update with some photos!!! Enjoy! It is honestly getting down to my last days here and I am feeling it. I am torn between the life I have become to love and the world I have grown up in. There are things I love and hate about both. I am feeling nervous and anxious about going back home. I won't have a home so I will be staying with friends and although I am thankful to have friends, I will long to feel at home. Also, the reverse culture shock will have me strong. I can already and see and feel how it will be once going home. I am also nervous about my life going back to the normal 9-5 and leaving behind my ministry here. I have spent the past 3 ... read more

My team mates and I are currently putting on a week long VBS for the kids since school is on break. We are exactly at the middle and it seems to be going ok. It's very hard for us to plan since a lot of our stories and the materials that we brought don't really translate. We have been spending time sharing our testimonies and doing sermons along with playing games and doing worship. On Sunday, the kids will be singing for a local church. The night before the VBS, I woke up terrified and found tons of cockroaches all over my mosquito net. I was very very scared and curled into a ball and covered my head with a sheet. One of them kept flying around the room and I covered my ears with the ... read more

I have begun my language lessons here in Musoma and am trying to learn conversational Swahili (not worrying about grammar or sentence structure) so I can communicate with people. I am trying so hard but feel like I am walking in circles. I long to understand what people are saying and be able to hold a conversation beyond the greetings. I was actually able to have a decent conversation with a young man named Juma on my way home the other night. I felt somewhat accomplished. My house has been experiencing some changes. We have a new guest staying from Dar es Saalam and she is not great in her social grace. She comes off very harsh which is something I've never been good at understanding. My team mates and I have been longing to get ... read more

We are now in our host families and loving every minute of it!! We are beginning to learn swahili and the girls think I am doing amazingly well. :) My host family knows very little English but I am slowly learning. Last night we had a Swahili / English lesson. They love that I am learning so quickly. I can tell you most of the face in Swahili (eye, nose, chin....). I LOVE it here! It's beautiful and everyone is so sweet! To be a guest is a high importance and everyone will bend over backwards to make sure you are comfortable. They even warm ... read more

Tomorrow night there is a prayer night being held at Reality La office at 7:30 pm for Tanzania and my missions trip. Reality La office 7127 1/2 Sunset Blvd. Hollywood, CA. 90046 second floor, next to Curves What we will be praying over: -currently there is freedom for both Christians and Muslims to practice their faiths. There is also freedom to convert to either religion. -the Muslim population is polarized between moderates and Islamic. The Islamic population is pushing for political power and for removing the freedom of religions. -the local churches and their growth -current reasons that prevent the growth of churches: * stagnant churches aren't reaching out the local tribes * western traditions are being mixed with African doctrine which is leaving little room for biblical teachings * small amount of pastors. A pastor ... read more

I wanted to update you on the orphanage that I will be spending my time at while in Africa. There are a few images of the some of the children. Please pray for their little hearts, tuition, school fees, home life and giving their life to the Lord! The orphanage is called FORM (Faraja Orphan's Rescue Ministry). It is newly founded, and still in the formation stage. Here are some comments/description of the ministry from the Short Term Coordinator in Tanzania: 1) FORM has about 35 children in the program at present. They would like to expand in the near future. The children are currently all out in "foster" homes with families and then have ongoing weekly meetings, training, game days, and food/medicine assistance. There is a group of local Tanzanian men and women that are ... read more

I have officially accepted a missions trip and am now on my way! :) I was offered to go to Musoma, Tanzania on the coast of Lake Victoria. Currently the orphanage has closed and they just left the kids to live on the streets. The local church has taken in the children but they do not have the resources to house them nor educate them. So they have asked for a team to go there to help them get an orphanage running. Currently the children are sleeping in pews. After being offered the mission, I was told to pray and see if that was where I was being lead. My checklist online was changed to Tanzania so I could see what I would have to do if I accepted the trip. I felt really at peace ... read more
