Hi all,

I'm climbing Kilimanjaro in september this year with my girlfriend on the Machame route. I've been looking at the headlamps that everyone has recommended to take on previous forums. Can anyone reccomend a good one to take, i've been looking on ebay and the choice is baffeling me.

Cheers

I use the Petzl brand - mine is the Tikka XP, which has now been superseded by the Tactikka XP. I like this brand because they have an inbuilt wide angle adapter (diffuser), three power levels and a flashing mode, in addition to a light boost which illuminates at well over 50 metres. Some models of Petzl have coloured filters you can put in, which is handy as you will not blind others around you with a white light. I have had mine for 2 years now, and it is still working perfectly without any signs of wear. One of my better purchases. Reply to this

I also use a Petzl and love it. Unfortunately, I don't know the model. Mine has a retractable cord so it can be worn around the head or wrist or any diameter. The cord looks like it would not last, but it is VERY strong and after 3 years of daily use, it is showing no signs of wear. Best of luck, I know you will enjoy the Kili climb. Safari njema! We recommend the Tikka Plus 2 for climbing Kilimanjaro. Reply to this
