Yesterday I went to Shangarai! I had not been there in 2 weeks due to the problems that I was facing there but i had to visit Mama Nice, Nice, Wisdom and Prince as they rely on my support for everything, and i am not going to ever change that! I offered them my help when their father abandoned them and on top of that I DO LOVE THEM! I took Sandra and Jose Luis so they could meet them and to share my joy with them! We spent a couple of hours, we played and it was great! They all looked great! I managed to pay for the milk for november and december and for food for the next 2 weeks. It was sad to see that in 2 weeks the children are not going ... read more

It's hard for George and me to believe that our third-born is 20! Like most parents, we are quick to admit that time sure does seem to fly by. For a special treat we made pineapple coconut ice cream; a request of Luke's. We were also able to go out for a nice birthday supper to help Luke celebrate. In other news, George has been busy teaching his classes on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesday he and Jacob made a trip to Moshi, to get some work done on our vehicle. Friday George spent all day working with Peter, editing the Lugandan version of the evangelism booklet. We are getting closer to it being ready for print. This coming week promises to be another busy one. Tomorrow we will worship with the Monduli congregation. George is scheduled ... read more

We visited the village of Ngulelo today to see how my friend Shannon had organised the nursery school she is supporting. Shannon is an Australian primary school teacher that is volunteering here for 2 months. She has trained the local teacher and her methodology was very impressive. After Ngulelo we visited Pascalina and her family in the poor neighbourhood of Mbauda in the outskirts of Arusha; She would like to run a nursery there so she asked for my opinion on the matter. We saw the place which is unfinished so we took pictures so we could calculate the cost. Mbauda is very poor and they do not have any nursery; Pascalina's idea is great but unfortunately I do not think it is a good project; the cost t make up the place will be of ... read more

So, travelling across Africa by public transport has it's moments. Sometimes it's fun, other times, it's not. There are a couple of bus journeys that stand out above the rest though. Firstly, on my 2 day mission from Nkata Bay in Malawi, to Arusha in northern Tanzania. The first day, I left the campsite around 6am, and caught mini bus's, mid sized bus's, taxi's and even a bicycle to get to Mbeya in Southern Tanzania. It took about 13 hours. Then getting back to the bus stop at 5:40 the next morning to catch the bus to Arusha. I didn't realise there were time limits on bus travel, and either the driver was crazy, really wanted to arrive quickly, or some other unexplained reason, but he drove the pants of that thing. We left at 6:00am ... read more

Dear all, After the bad news from the last 2 weeks there is always a ray of hope and I have found a great project to work on, a small nursery in the distrct of Mbauda in Arusha. Mbauda it is a very poor neighbourhood n the outskirts of Arusha where unortunately there are no current nursery school and children have to walk long distances to be able to attend one but during the rainy season, because of the mud, it is almost impossible to reach there. Someone told me that and to avoid early disappointments, i did not express any interest in the project. They only came to me for advise, never to ask anything which I did very much appreciate. I gave them my advise and recommendations to start the legal paperwork and believe ... read more

Today we spent the day in Arusha Natioanl Park with the idea to go to Mt Mery crater to have lunch overlooking the crater and Kilimanjaro; Unfortunatey we could not enjoy the view of Kili caus eit was very cloudy but we did enjoy the view over the crater; stunning place , lovely day. We headed there @6.30 am; it was a great pleasure not to see any safari cars full of tourist which made the trip even more special; On the way to the creater we could enjoy the park, one of he most beautifuls I;ve seen and some game safari: buffalo, zebra, Elan, Giraffe, colobus monkeys, the black and white one which I have no idea what are they called and the most important and amazing for me, the FLAMINGOS!!! it was just stunning; ... read more

Dear all, the last 2 weeks have been tough and puts into perspective my work here. The main reason for it it is the lack of trust and the dissapointments you get when you find out that the people you thought that cared about you, well, they do not; it is heartbreaking to find out that instead of talking to me they have just stabbed me in the back; I can live wth that, it is not the first time in my life and it will not be the last but I am sorry cause the children are the only victims here and that hurts. The good thing it is that I found out on time so I can withdraw my support from them; all i have already given, oh well, they can keep it as ... read more

We express our sincere appreciation to you all for your continued prayers and support. Over the past three and a half years we have learned a lot about Tanzanian culture and mission work. Your backing has enabled us to focus our attention upon changing lives for eternity. The souls we have taught and the men we have helped train can go forth on the narrow way and can call others to that Way. Over the past couple of decades and more, there has been considerable effort focused in northern Tanzania and some in the very far south by the people of God. However, many areas still remain relatively untouched by the gospel. Tanzania’s population has grown from about 10 million (1960) to over 42 million (2008) in less than 50 years. More than 80% of the ... read more

Hi Friends, Today is Zanzibar day!! Very exciting! Yesterday was my last day at the orphanage. It was incredibly sad, obviously I cried. When do I not cry? We threw a little party for the kids with balloons and music and candy. We had so much fun! The kids LOVE playing with balloons and dancing to the World Cup song, so we put it on repeat and it has been in my head ever since. Before I left they gave me a thank you card and they all signed their names and it was so cute. It was definitely the hardest saying goodbye to Joaseph and Bryson. I even tried to run out with Joseph but got caught. Hiding a 3 year old under your t-shirt is way less concealing than one would think. But over ... read more

I'm TANNED! and a little bit burnt. But don't focus so much on that part, it's the tan we're getting excited about! And yes, I applied my SPF 50 like it was going out of style. Why am I so tanned you ask? Well, I was at the beach for 4 days! It was wonderful. On Friday we left really early and drove in Nelson's van to a coastal town called Pangani, and then took a ferry for literally 2 minutes across the Pangani River to get to the ocean side of the town. It was BEAUTIFUL! We stayed at this little resort called Beach Crab Resort, and funny enough, there are crabs all over the beach! Coincidence, right? But the crabs are only out at night, and they don't want to hang out with you ... read more
