Not a lot going on today. That's good. We don't even go to breakfast until almost 9am. Then at 10, they have the King Neptune Ceremony out at the pool area. This is a fun activity taken from a mariner's tradition that pokes fun at crew members passing over the equator for the first time. Lots of pomp and circumstance takes place with King Neptune, pirates, lifeguards and officers of the ship. Victims must first kiss this fish statue, then covered with some kind of goop and finally thrown in the pool. About 20 crew went through this, then many more crew members ended up in the pool. After the ceremony, the pool was drained and cleaned.

Note: At 8:58am we crossed over the equator from the Southern to the Northern Hemisphere on our way to California.

I returned to the room to work on the blog and pictures. I tried to transmit but got nothing. Mom went up to,the pool for a couple of hours. After dinner, we head for the 8pm show to see James Cielen, a magician from Las Vegas. Mom is itching to start packing so, returning to our room around 9:30pm, I start writing
this while she drags out suitcases and plans her attack to fit all this crap in six cases. We'll see.

We are on the ship for the next few days. It's like being stuck in a hotel with nowhere to go. While there is entertainment such as music, swimming, sunbathing, sleeping, eating, walking or listening, it is difficult to make such activities "exciting" for the blog. Nevertheless, I will continue to document our activities for entry into our travel book later. These last few entries will be shorter with fewer pictures simply to reflect this change in our itinerary.
