Hi all,

We have arrived. Sorry for the delay. After a very long day of travel... one canceled flight and one delayed flight, two trains and a car (20+ hours of travel) we made it to Prague. Fighting time change and exhaustion we hit the town that night. We decided the best place to start was the oldest brewery in town, U Fleku. Great place, dark beer and goulash. Guys playing um-pa music and people singing. It was fabulous. We then hit El Gott another brewery. Smaller and not as nice. Stayed for one Budweiser (the real one) and then started our way back to the apartment. We stumbled upon a midevil themed restaurant and had to go in. Well, it was great. Good beer, mead and cool atmosphere.

Sunday we hit the castle. This castle "by some measures" is the largest in the world. It is a complex really with a palace, churches, shopping district and museum. We watched the changing of the guard (best at noon on Sunday). St. Vitus cathedral is amazing. So ornate. We also went into old town to the square where the astronomical clock is. I can't tell you how but this thing tells time, month, astrological sign, saint, etc. The king had the clock maker killed so he couldn't make any more. We walked to Wenceslas Square.. major shopping. And then found the Belgian beer bar. Yeah! Went out for a late dinner and met a guy from San Diego who is here doing research for his thesis. He gave us great advice and even taught us a bit o' Czech.

Monday we walked a lot! We hit the Jewish Quarter and went into a few synagogues. One has the names of all of the Czech Jews that were lost in concentration camps and upstairs art that was done by children in the camps... very upsetting. We also went into the ceremonial hall. This was a "museum" explaining Jewish traditions from birth to burial. We walked through the old Jewish cemetery. So many head stones stacked in random fashion. We went to Our Lady of Victory church to see the Infant of Prague. Brought by the Spanish to Prague. This small doll has been known to perform miracles and is visited by pilgrims from all over the world. Went to the Communism museum.. Steve didn't like it... I thought is was ok.

Well, we are off the Kunta Hora (a town outside of Prague). Be in touch soon.

Love to all,
Kim, Steve, Jim, Kraig & Ken
