Up early this morning to catch the train back to the airport to pickup the rental car. We ended up with a Renault Clio with lots of bells and whistles including navigation but only for Germany. I have my GPS with so will set it up for tomorrow. My data plan also starts tomorrow so should have data access for both Denmark and Sweden and can then use Google maps. I will have to see if I can get a card adaptor for my GPS Garmin data. Perhaps it might work with the in car system.

The land is very flat and on the way we saw MANY power generation windmills as well as large solar fields. It is obvious the Germans are investing In these technologies.

We headed up the A7 and drove through Flensburg - a very pretty port town. We then continued on to Tonder which is our intended location.

Tonder is a very pretty old town and since it is Saturday the town square was hosting a band and the square was filled with people enjoying the music, hot dogs and beer. It is the oldest market town in Denmark but today hosts several more modern industries.

We visited the art museum and there were several excellent displays. The museum is located in one of the buildings which was part of the original castle.

The displays illustrated the many local crafts of the region. There was also an interesting display of the transition of religion throughout the area. It traced the movement from the basic more ancient beliefs through to the effects of the Reformation and the Lutheran leadership. More recently there is a movement to more "free" churches and likely for many people a movement away from the practice of any mainstream religions.

The feature exhibition was a display of the work of Hans J. Wagner who was an iconic designer from Tonder. Much of his work involved the design of furniture.

Our accommodations tonight are on the German side of the border.
