Last full day at Yellowstone, what should we do? We had to move campsites today. We didn’t rush around. We took our time to get up and pack things for travel. We had to wait for the Vermont family to leave before we could move. While we were waiting Jody, Grace and Alexis walked into town. Grace wanted candy. Jody stopped at the ranger station to find out about bike trails.

Once we moved from one side of the tracks to the other, with two attempts for clearance with the slide out, we headed into the park. We went to Fountain Flat Drive to bike a trail down to Fairy Falls. While unloading bikes the girls decided they had to go to the bathroom. So Alex put their bikes together and they biked back to the picnic area to use the gross bathroom. Jody and Alex had a romantic lunch by the water.

When the girls returned we headed for the trail. It was a fairly flat and groomed trail. After a 3 mile trek out to the end of the trail there was still a 1.6 mile hike to the falls. We had not brought a lock, so we chose not to hike and turned to head back to Sid. We got caught in a rain storm on the ride back. Good thing we had all packed our rain gear in our packs. By the time we got back to Sid, we were out of the rain. We loaded up the bikes and headed to Old Faithful. Alex had heard a rumor that there was a Disc Golf course in Yellowstone somewhere around Old Faithful.

After talking to multiple staff and driving to Grant Village and back, we found about where the course was located. It is not a course with chain baskets and according to one ranger not permitted in the park. We took a trail out behind the cabins and found some cairns that we believe were the cages. The trail was marked but not as traveled. Alex was excited to find the course. The girls were a little less excited, the mosquitoes were biting and there were rumbles from a storm in the air. We did get to see some wildlife up-close and personal.

Got back in Sid and stopped for a bathroom break just in time before the bottom dropped out. We headed back to the campground which should be about an hour drive but due to the rain and heard of Elk that was playing along the road. Which meant everyone just stopped, traffic didn’t move, so it created a 2 mile back-up and it took a lot longer to get home.

Jody had put a pork loin in the smallest crock pot ever and it was a tasty dinner when we arrived back. Jody and Grace did a few last loads of laundry so we would fresh to start the next leg of the trip. Alex, Alexis and Jordan stopped again for the 50 cent ice cream. They also brought back a tub of buttered popcorn. We ended the night playing Skip-bo in the camper. It was getting cold outside. Also the new neighbors on this side of the campground were rowdy weekend warrior campers at best.

Headed to Nevada tomorrow by way of Idaho and Oregon. Trying to fill up the map!
