Ciao everyone:
Thursday, we took a day-long trip to the Cinque Terre National Park on the Italian Riveria to do some serious hiking on a trek organized by Walkabout Florence.
The weather was beautiful (probably should have packed more sunscreen!), the scenery was spectacular, the villages were colorful and quaint, and the hiking was challenging, envigorating, and rewarding.
Add a couple of train rides, seafood salad and fresh pesto for lunch, and a coast-hugging boat ride back to Riomaggiore and it made for a full day. Dinner back in Florence late that night -- papardelle (long, wide noodles) in wild boar sauce with a nice Italian beer (Mike felt like he deserved it) and a spicy penne pasta with Chianti (for Sharon) -- made for the perfect Italian trek.
You must try this yourself some day!
Love to all,
Mike and Sharon/Dad and Mom

Wish we were there! What an amazing trip so far full of adventures. Cinque terre is one of our favorites places we've traveled to. Makes us want to return! Eat, drink and be merryThe Schaefers
