Today we sailed around the horn of South America. What a memorable experience it was. The kind of thing that you've just got to do. Photos don't do it any justice. The feeling of being there, in an untouched place, so remote, you've just got to be there. Aside from that, we've spent the last two days at sea.

Yesterday, we treated ourselves to a paid specialty restaurant called Chops Grill "the best steaks on the high seas". It cost us $50USD for both of us but it was worth it. A quiet, cosy little restaurant with private little tables facing the ocean. Our booking at 7pm was perfect to watch the sunset. The food was excellent from starters to desert and it was a quality steak. For me, perhaps still not as great as the one we had in Montevideo, but close! We've met a lot of lovely people on this cruise. Nobody our age, but thats to be expected and okay with us. Most nights we dine with a couple from Texas in their 50s; Perry and Gloria. We've also met a lovely couple from Sweden, similar age; Kristine and Bo, who we've loved chatting about travel with. Another American guy from California, Howard, amused us at breakfast with dozen of card 'magic' tricks.

We went to another show on the ship, a comedy and magic show. It was cute, but pretty average, much like the singing and dancing shows. We've been really underwhelmed by the theatre acts on this ship. We've been to the gym both days. The highlight of the last two days however, was definitely the Horn. On approach, the temperature drastically plummeted to 5-10C. Winds howled. We saw the Lighthouse at the end of the world, right at the edge of the continent, operated in isolation by a Chilean family.

All around us, Towering cliffs, Calm seas, Seemingly uncharted untouched islands and lonely desolate plains. Jagged rocks and cliff edges. It felt and looked as though human feet hadn't touched all of these islands. A place Ill never forget. Tomorrow, we arrive at Ushuaia the worlds southernmost city. The majority of the trip so far has been heat, beaches, jungle and plains. The rest of the trip is all about mountains. I love mountains, and I'm looking forward to seeing some tomorrow.
