Me and Ang arrived in Auckland yesterday (OCT 22) at around 6 pm after a hot & sunny week in Fiji. The internet & phone service in Fiji is slow and expensive so we waited until we got to New Zeland to make our first entry.

After a long night of flying we arrived in Fiji on the 15th of October at about 6 am. We stayed at Rendezvous Surf & Dive, located about an hour outside of Nadi at the Uciwai landing.

On our Fiji trip we did a whole lot of relaxing. The weather was somewhat cooperative, we had a full day of absolute rain, which was a little bit of a shock, then sun and some wind.

We had four dive trips in total which were amazing. Loads of different coral and species of fish, just beautiful. Our exciting sights included two turtles, an octopus, and a leopard shark!! Clay got to touch the shark's fin, and he said it felt like sandpaper,I decided to keep my distance.

Our nightly activities included hanging out by the bonfire getting to know our other mates at Rendezvous. There was plenty of ganja and our 58% Bounty Rum

to go around! The 3 R's of the Fijian lifestyle included Reading, Relaxing and Reefer...plenty of time for all..haha

We heard some great stories passed on by our Fijian hosts which included everything from the reasons why dogs sniff eachothers butts from how the indians came to Fiji. We also got to enjoy a very casual kava ceremony with everyone sitting cross legged on a woven mat. The chief would sit at the head of the mat and each person receives a cup a kava upon clapping their hands. The kava root is dried out and then crushed into powder and steeped into the kava wooden bowl to be stirred and distributed. Different taste that's for sure, and it slighly numbs your tongue. If you drink enough of it, you will be somewhat intoxicated, but we weren't into drinking that much of this stuff! We'll keep to the beer thanks!
