Got up at 7.15 this morning and went straight down to breaky, we'd been there for roughly 15 minutes when Nana and Pa arrived. Finished at 10 and went back up to the rooms to get ready to go out.

We walked to the Asok train station, through Robinsons Department Store and across the bridge, we caught 2 trains and ended up outside MBK shopping centre. But before that we stopped and looked at all the damage the 'Red Shirts' had caused. It was horrible, there was three main buildings that we could see that had been affected which only looked one or two stories high, and right around it was all burnt out and bare. There were a few people who looked to have the job of cleaning everything up but it would take them months and then even longer to rebuild the places. But if you could cover that area with something you'd never guess anything had happened everything around it was fine.

MBK shopping centre was weird - when you walked in it was like Myer and very posh but down an escalator and through some doors was completely different although it was still the same shopping centre this part was like a market. Just in shops, anything you want at a market was there, clothes, shoes, jewellery, handbag, scarves, electronics, iPod covers... but all knock offs of course. There was a really nice shop we found called 'Viva' in this section and I got a top and dress (I'm wearing the dress now). After shopping we went up to get some food, nothing really struck our fancy but in the end we found an omelette place which was really nice. After lunch when we were going back we found a nice present for dad which was amazing and afterwards mum was kicking herself she didn't get one.

Nana and Pa went back when we'd finished here but mum and I when to the Siam Pargon and Siam Centre. Its two different shopping centre's, ones normal, the other is very posh, with all the Gucci and Jimmy Choo. After not long in the posh one, mum and I walked to the other and had a donut. We found a glasses shop and went in there but they didn't have any nice ones so they suggested we went to the other one in the other mall. So we did and we also found 6 other glasses shops. We found some glasses I really liked and they were 50% off but I still wasn't sure so they're on hold for 2 days.

We caught the train back to the hotel but when we got off we went through the wrong gate things causing us to go across the wrong bridge and getting completely lost. We spent roughly 20 minutes on this bridge until finding out which way to go, which is an incredibly long time when you're scared of bridges. But in the end it wasn't so bad, we got to walk through markets back to the hotel.

Once arriving at the hotel we went straight up to the room, got changed and headed for the pool, but we only had 10 minutes because we were going to Cabbages and Condoms for dinner. But in the end we decided it was too nice to get out so we're having Cabbages and Condoms tomorrow night. At 6.45 we got out, two hours later. We got changed and headed for a little open air restaurant at the end of our street. I chose this one. It was called Yonglee and serves 'Thai, Chinese, European Food. It was really full as a bank had all their workers there but we squeezed in - just. A table made for 2 had 4 people on it and a space for 1 had 4. We ordered fried beef with cashew nuts, sweet and sour pork and fried chicken with chinese vegetable everyone loved it, especially the sweet and sour pork. Other things we could've ordered included -

- Goat Meat Fried in Gravy

- Stewed Deer Gut and

- Fried Frog

- Fried Eight Things (???)

We decided to not stay long after so there was room for everyone else although mum and I would've loved to have stayed, there was a little boy sitting across from us that was making spit balls out of the tissues, eating the napkins and inhaling his rice. It was hilarious. But we came up here to the internet place and just found out about Julia Gillard becoming Prime Minister and Nana is very proud. It's been about 10 minutes since they found out and I haven't heard them talking about anything else since.

When we left on Tuesday afternoon, everything seemed fineThen suddenly we had a new Prime Minister and for the next 3 days There were large [1/2 page or more] articles of the news! Sometimes it would be a week of reading newspapers before
we?d find anything about Australia.Even the Dutch/American/Canadian we met on the skytrain mentioned about Julia
