We left Derby early as we had 200+kms to drive and it was very pleasant. Broome is a stunning place to visit. The site we booked at the Roebuck Bay Caravan Park was a seafront view overlooking the bay. Temperatures were a comfy 28 to 30 and not much breeze during the night.
We had the car serviced there and it cost about $150+ more than home so everything costs so much more in peak season and not being locals. Anyway enough of that.
We had the best seats for the steps to the moon but we were not great at taking pictures. We also visited the old china town which is now modernised and used by many varied businesses. We had a quick look in the pearl shops....aaargh $$$$$$$.
We also visited the museum while we were car less and you could spend hours in there. David disappeared after the lady at reception asked us if we qualified for SENIORS prices. I'm still laughing at the look on his face. Wish I was quicker with my camera and you could all enjoy it.
Cable Beach is the in place for the young and trendies so we decided our egos needed bolstering and we took a trip there to see the sunset. Very nice. I finally found some camels there. No we didn't ride any $70 each.
We visited the Chinese and Japanese cemeteries which are totally different. The Japanese are very structured and the cemetery is all gravel where the Chinese are on lawn (to put it nicely) and placed wherever they want to be.
We took a tour at the Malcolm Douglas Croc Park which is enormous and is now being run by his wife and kids and they are doing a great job. 3 hour tour and feeding of the crocs. They also have a large amount of birds in the sanctuary as well.
Unfortunately it was finally time to pack up and leave for 3 days of free camping. We were sorry to leave Broome.
