Well we should be getting used to the darn sun up at 5.30 but I can tell you its not funny. Guess the only benefit is hitting the highway early. We had such a long way to go today 100kms which found us in Halls Creek.
The town is about the size of Birdwood with a local IGA and some other small shops. We had to stock up on groceries and wow that was expensive. We both felt like curry so we bought a jar of pataks curry sauce $7.50. Hmmm we will shop again later in Fitzroy Crossing, hopefully that is not so dear. Fuel here is cheaper than most places at $1.745 p/l diesel.
Well we got back to the van after spending up big and had lunch before going out to see the sights.
Guess what....we ate lunch at 11am!!!
Anyway off we went to see the China Wall which is a sub-vertical quartz vein protruding 6m from the ground.
Next stop was Caroline Pool about 15km from town and was once the main recreational area for the locals.
On to Old Halls Creek township where there is only remnants of buildings but most of the street signs are still there. The town moved due to the building of an airstrip and re-direction of the highway. Sad to see old towns disappear.
Further along is a beautiful spot called Palm Springs. We could have spent hours there but it was invaded with hot travellers taking a dip.
Last spot to visit was Sawpit Gorge. There is some magic spots to look at here in WA and a lot of them you can camp overnight as well.
Back to the van for some house work YUK but someone has to do it. Thanks David (only joking).
