As soon as the ship docked in the morning we drove up into the hills and the area called the Lake District- very pretty and foresty. At the lakeside we left our comfortable coach and got geared up in harnesses, hats and gloves. Our transport up the hill was in a truck pulled by a tractor and a very bumpy ride it was too. This is the second time we have done ziplining, the first time being in Alaska. I went last as I knew I would make a mess of it. I dont mind taking off into space above the trees and zooming down the line but I am worried that if I brake too soon I will end up suspended in mid air and have to pull along the line manually- no fun. End result of this fear is to go in fast so that I reach the tree at the other end but then slam into tree! Not very elegant. The brakes didnt seem to work anyway and the others were impressed by my speed if not my landing! There were about 12 lines to zip along with 2 quite long ones with nice views. It was a good laugh even though I was nursing my aches and pains for 2 days after! The morning ended with a lunch of Chilean salmon and salad washed down with a Chilean Merlot and then the drive back through the lakes back to the ship. A great day.
