Lions roar out, while a man plants trees in Satara

From Skukuza we moved on to Satara. This is the rest camp and surrounds that is famous for sightings of "animals with teeth"! During both nights we could hear the lions roaring/grunting in the distance. We saw lots of nice game but did not see any of the lions, leopards or cheetahs the first day we were there. We did see a hyena on the drive to Satara from Skukuza but it was still a fun time had looking here and there. We try to each look on our side of the car for game to occassionally are known to look over on the other side of the car!

There was rumor of leopard near the bridge heading to the entrance, and rumor of lions on the side of the road but none were seen.

We did take some time to cook up a big pot of black beans and watch the gentleman that was parked in a "handicapped" space. There are some spaces chained off in this camp and you have to have special permission to camp there. We nicknamed him "General Tree" because he was very bossy and demanding to the workers helping him erect his tent. He also was planting trees about the campground. He must have had special permission because we have seen signs elsewhere in the park telling you not to plant anything and if you do it will be removed.

We got to see a new bird for us, the double banded sand grouse sitting in the road on the evening drive. Lots of nice animal shots, chances to laugh at the baboon antics out on the road and just enjoying the scenery around us.
