Escalator to nowhere
The shangahi matket on Nanjing Road Geo: 31.23, 121.47
So what do you do on your last day in Shanghai?
WHY.... SHOPPING OF COURSE!!!!
We walked to the another market that was close to the hotel.
Shanghai Taobaocity Fengxian Clothing Gift Market.
580 Nanjing Road West Road.
We where to meet Sheldon on the river for Dinner.
It was FREEZING. Even parts of the river where FROZEN.
We took some great pictures. We had to duck into Starbucks for Hot Chocolates.
HOT POT.
One of Luca's workmates girlfriend works for Ford in Shanghai so they took us out to dinner.
This place was so hard to find. We would have had no chance to find it on our own. It was up on the 7th floor and the life was on the outside..... we finally got there.
There specialty is Hot Pot.
There is a big bowl of soup in the middle of the table and they bring you lots of stuff to cook in the soup. Our soup was divided into two sections. Chicken stock and the other was very hot and spicy.
First came the bones.... Big cow bones that where already cooked and they just needed to be heated up in the soup. They where huge....
Then we had Chicken and Beef
Shangai River
Verry Verryyy COLD bits of meat, Chinese melon, bamboo shoots, a variety of fish balls, sea weed, lotus root, small crabs with the shell, meat balls- beef and chicken, noodles and there was corn and carrot already in the soup. Then this man started making noodles. he was throwing them about stretching them and he would throw them out at you to stretch them. Really fun. Then he put the noodles into the soup too. With the meal we also had fried banana which would have been great as a dessert with ice cream. Last but not least we had a special surprise. They where telling us that we where going to have some thing special at the end of the meal...
The kids got excited... I began to worry... Something special could be something not so nice to us....
Dried rabbit meat, jellied chicken feet, brains, heart, liver..... I tried not to think about it...
AAAHHHH... the surprise was rice balls with black sesame seed paste inside in a soup.
That was a relief... and very nice. I ate Matthew's too.
It's good to go with someone who speaks Chinese!!!! Very yummy.
Our waiter was really good. He spoke English. We asked
him his name. "Ricky"
Cool I thought. "Can we get your business card with your name on it." This is just what you do as a sign of respect. Ask for a card. He wrote his name on the card.... It wasn't Ricky.......
but ...... VICKY !!!!
Thank you Sheldon and Ruby for the fantastic night.

What a wonderful trip you guys had! I wonder how many luggages you needed to carry back things you bought from so much shopping in Shanghai.
