This place is amazing.
During the Chinese New Year all of the shops are closed.
This is the only time that most Chinese have holidays. So for the one week over the New Year everything comes to a complete stop. All around us here where we live especially because it is a place full of students they have all gone home so everything is closed. It's like a ghost town.... or should I say ... it feels normal.... but it's not normal for china.
Our Driver took us to Purple Mountain to see Dr. Sun's Mausoleum.
I thought it was going to be a hard walk up the 369 or steps.... but it was quite easy.
Once again we where the only westerners.... but there was another young man and an older couple.
The view was great... but there was a lot of mist.... but you could see a bit into the distance so it wasn't that bad.
(It's just something you get used to.... not seeing a blue sky and having a view with the haze.)
Matthew had a great time... Three girls asked if they could have there photo with him. I thought ok group photo.... No one by on they went
in really close and got a photo. Li thought it was great... He kept calling Matthew a movie star....
This really is a great place to visit.
At the base of the walk was an outdoor arena.
It was a semi circle with a 3 meter stage at the base with a fountain at the foot of the stage.
It looked very roman.
There where white doves everywhere and men selling corn to feed the doves.
There was a great water display that went with the music.....
It was just a little strange.
Oddly enough the music was- Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars...
I just seemed odd... Why wasn't it Chinese Music????
The kids had a great time feeding the birds.... but for some reason the birds didn't like Matthew.
Serena always had heaps of birds around her but poor Matty had to be really patient to feed them.
We went on the stage and we sung..... That's normal isn't it?
