A rainy day, when we woke up, meant a bit of a change in plans. After some quick googling, we headed around to the Edo-Tokyo museum, where the medieval shogun Edo period is displayed in fantastic dioramas, artifacts and hand-on displays. It was really interesting - I would have liked it if one of the free English guides was available, but all the exhibits has English explanations as well. We happily wandered for a couple of hours, before going to the udon cafe at the museum for a very tasty lunch - even trying the sushi rice inari snacks - yum!

Then we tubed over to the Imperial Palace Gardens, because the rain had stopped. The gardens, with their Autumn colours, were lovely - I think there isn't much to see from the outside of the Palace, but the view across the famous bridge was certainly picturesque. The kids were tired by then, so rather than break them by going to the Samurai Museum, or even walking through Shinjuku Gyoen park, we slowly wandered back to Tokyo station, taking lots of photos of the trees.

The kids had some quiet time whilst we sorted out the JR passes and made reservations for tomorrow's trip to Takayama, including reserving our seats in the bullet train!!

Dinner at a restaurant/diner at Yoyogi, pork cutlets of some variety for everyone. Olivia is over her tummy bug and eating like a Perissinotto! We've bought some bento box type supplies for the train trip in the morning....

Another 10km day today!!
