Edit Blog Post
Well all!
well im finally off on my trip. Before i go any further id just like to say that some of the blogs might be very long as i will try to mention as much as i can remember(which could be harder than you think especially after nights like last night!)so apologies in advance.
Right i suppose the start is as good as anywhere to start off with. Within an hour and a half of my journey last night i had already met people who bought me dinner in heathrow airport :o) Id like to that Jim and Maureen from westmeath for that. I was getting off the flight from dublin and i saw 2 old people who were on my flight looking a bit lost. It turned out they were looking for the 10pm flight to bangkok. Ha no better lad than myself to follow i told them, so i was rewarded with a a good auld yapping session and a lovely meal when we got to the departing terminal.
The flight to thailand was long and with no sleep so i was knackered when we landed. I soon woke up though when the plane doors opened
and i headed into thailand. I jumped into a taxi and joined the wackey races from the airport to kho san road. the journey was fine as long as you just kept focusing on all the new scenery to take in and not how the taxi driver or those around us were driving! But we had a buddah shrine on the dash board of the taxi so i was assured by the driver that we would be grand, once we had this we would be invincible!!the city is hugh and the traffic is just madness!!!
So we arrive at kho san and i head off looking for a place to stay. i stumbled across a place the was small but clean so that did the job. So still without sleep i headed out to meet a next door neighbour and a cousin who had landed in thailand a few hours before me.....i only found out they were going to thailand a few hours before i departed myself. coincidence or what!
Basically the rest of the night was spent going up and down Kho San drinking cheap beer and having the craic (sorry for the non irish reading this
craic means fun). And what craic we had! this place is mental! so many people from all over the world, mostly backpackers, swaping stories and having a right laugh. then there are the locals trying to sell you anything and everything, or get you into their bar for a drink (which we obliged only too often). Oh and remember i said that toronto had the best looking women, then i insisted that it was new york, then philly, then...... well i was obviously talking utter nonsense coz i was never here before!
Near the end of the night(or so we tought coz it was about 1am) we arrived at the shamrock bar which was still kicking. we find out that this is a 24hour bar and to an irish man thats like waving a red flag to a bull! we met 2 swedish girls from stockholm(gabi and eh sorry i forget the other girls name) and and american guyEthan from san francisco. we were having a great laugh with them till a guy passed out in the middle of the road outside and we spent the next hour trying to revive him. God only knows what he took! Anyway to
cut a loooong story short we found his hotel and bunged him into bed. aparently it was the 3rd night in a row he was like that! i wonder how he is getting on today!?!?major hangover at least i reckon.....
Anyway at around 4 am maybe it was closer to 5am ( i think) there were about 15 people in the bar. 90% of them wearing a gaelic jersey or a green eircom top(in other word they were all irish to those who havent a clue what i mean here) we called it a night and stumbled to bed.
Today i met Dan the tuk tuk driver. And for about 4 euro we drove around all day in the mayhem going from temple to monument and taking photos all the way. Great stuff! some fabulous buildings and temples here.
So cutting so more stories that has lead me to here and now. Im off to get some food into me and a few drinks i supose. ill update you all again tomorrow and hopefully some photos too but for now slan!!
