Zion
East Temple Mtn We're traveling southward slowly. We had never stayed in Provo, Utah so it seemed like a good place to test high elevation, at 4600'. Tom did okay, although a walk around the park was the most exercise we got. We had an LDS (Mormon) couple as a neighbor. They are both self-employed. Her business was sorta' like Match.com with a personal touch. Her masters is in family psychology. She said divorce is very high in the LDS community because girls want to marry young and start on their spiritual gifts (?? don't know, not my expertise.) Her business involves counseling single people on finding a life-long spouse. Anyway new insight for us.
Our other neighbor was a lady school teacher, Christian; never married as she hasn't found the right Christian man in Utah. She adopted 3 children, two of which have Downs. We were so humbled by her.
Next stop was Zion National Park. The most popular areas can now only be seen on their shuttle....closed to cars. Tom's oxygen bottle wouldn't last the shuttle bus trip so we saw what was open to us in our car. Our first time there was several years ago and we went
Karen
North Rim with our Ohio friends Sue and Dave. Definitely nostalgic. The weather was cloudy but offered some good photo ops.
From there we went on to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This is the least-visited rim as it is nearly 50 miles from anywhere. The week before we arrived lightning started a fire that got out of hand. Thousands of acres burned. We had a nice picnic lunch at Imperial Point, elevation nearly 8800'. Tom decided to walk a short path downhill to the Rim. NOT! Lesson learned....this is too high. But he was happy he saw it. I'm happy I got him off the Rim!
Having survived 8800' elevation we decided to give one of our favorite places a visit, Show Low, AZ. Juniper Ridge RV Resort is at 6200' We rented a spot with a golf course view. So far it works for us. The monsoons come in almost every day for about an hour, then sunny skies with highs in the low 80's and nights in the high 50's. I'm having some fun pickleball games a few mornings during the week. Tom and I walk in the afternoons. Life is good! Oh, and there's
grass for little Charlotte!

Life Elevated looks wonderful!
Great picture of you Karen! Once again, your pictures are wonderful! So awful to see the burned trees in the North Rim. Lightning always does so much damage. I used to see it in the mountains when I was a kid and had nightmares that the fire would come down and engulf the city. Little Charlotte looks like she just loves rolling in the grass. So happy to hear that Tom is doing good and is ok at 6,200 feet. Thanks for the update on your travels. May God Bless!!!
