Fabulous jungle!
The beauty of the jungle and waterfalls--incredible; the rain of the jungle--not so much. Good thing you're from rainy Vancouver and take it in stride; less so for us rainphobe Californians. Love your Ipad with books so much more than the 15 books in my pack, and reading on a jungly porch in the rain--perfect! I've read that the casas charge the same no matter how many people, ie $25, which I've never paid in my life. Is this frighteningly true?

Accomodation
Yes! As a single traveller, Cuba was way more expensive than it would have been for a couple, since you're paying the price of the room, not per person. I spent a lot more money on accommodation than I normally do!
