I've been here 2 and a half weeks now and every week has a new experience. Last weekend we were originally going to see the whirling dervishes (poeple who go into a trace while whirling in circles) but after Racheal (other teacher at the school) met Ahmed, he convinced us that he could take us to some pyramids close by Khartoum. This was the plan for about a day. Then, we realised it would be too expensive and we didnt have the right type of transport. Ahmed then suggested that he could take us to a beuatiful waterfall by the nile. sounds good. But, its ok, we can go to the pyramids again, huzar. Unfortunately a day later, oh no we cant go to the pyramids, lets go to the waterfall instead. (Inshah'allah, if god wills) We make a plan to meet at 9am on Friday morning, but it looks lije god did not will us to go to the waterfalls because Ahmeds son is sick and at 9am friday morning he calls to tell us that he has to take his son to hospital. So it's plan C, go to the nile and sit in an idyllic spot for a picnic. Then go to the national museum. Unfortunately, no one told us that when we went into the museum we'd only have about 45 minutes before they locked the doors. We raced through the whole museum. The it was time to find the whirling dervishes (our original plan!) We got in an Amjad ( a big taxi) and set off, but out driver didnt know the mosque that has them,
so he took us to 'a non-specific mosque' we ended up watching a sufi prayer cerimony.

This is just one day in the life of Khartoum where you always need a plan B, C, D and F...

What about a plan E? Surely that could sometimes come in handy :P Sounds like an interesting place in any case :) Have fun
