From a different angle
So the parents arrived last Thursday - great to see them when they finally made it to Annecy after a bad journey. Being the dutiful daughter I had booked a hotel right in the centre near the Chateau with views over the old town. Also not far from chez moi! That evening we went out for diner to a lovely restaurant overlooking the canal....have been wanting to go there since I arrived! Think they were a little shocked at my little studio but have learnt to love it like I do now.

Left them to explore on Friday morning as I went to class (sure my French is getting worse!). Actually it finally clicked when I have to use qui, que, dont, ou. We were also informed we have a two hour test on Tuesday - well that should be interesting. So my weekend really should have been about revising, but no, that was not going to happen whilst I had to babysit the parents.

We ended up going on a boat tour of the lake that afternoon which was nice and relaxing - thankfully the weather held out and they got to see the beauty of Annecy and the lake.

Have introduced them to all my friends...just embarassing when Dad tries to tell them how to speak French - of course he knows even though it was a good 50 years ago since he has learnt. Anyway they all thought Mum and Dad were great...and loved the fact Dad took the pee out of me (nothing new there then!!).

Weather not been the best this weekend so lots of walking around and exploring the place - funny that you seem to take places for granted so quickly...so many little alleys to go down and art galleries to visit. We did try to go the 'church' walk and me to explain in French - soon gave up on that one.

Sunday and market day - shame about the weather but great market. Loved exploring and taking photos. Struggled with the communciation though and ended up with more cheese than we had bargained for - that will be a small picnic for tonight then!!

I know this is hard to belief but I am still not drinking - not had a drop of alcohol since I arrived...thought I would feel more healthy but actually not making any difference. What with all the cheese and chocolate I have probably put on weight!!
