WOW! Saturday 23rd and I get woken up at about 9am by the biggest, loudest crashing and banging sound I have ever heard. I thought bombs must be going off somewhere....well I was half asleep and did have my ear plugs in.....lol.... I get up, look outside to find it totally pissing down, then see a streak of light and realise it is lightening and then the thunder follows. Never in my life have I heard thunder like that before.

Last night being Friday........funny that.........I decide to step outside my comfort zone and go to the clubs by myself. I knew they didn't really get going until late so thought that if I went at 11pm I should be ok. Wrong! I went round all the ones I had previously been to but the music wasn't my thing and no one was dancing. I stayed at Tropical for a bit and had a beer but felt like a complete tosser standing there by myself. I spoke to a few people but no one was interested in really chatting to a stranger. If the right music had been playing I would have just started dancing, as I did on Hvar, but it wasn't and I didn't feel like standing there feeling uncomfortable waiting for better music to come on for hours on end so I went home. I don't think I will be doing that again. The vibe in the clubs, and in the people in them is very different to what I experienced on Hvar, I prefer Hvar.

One thing I have forgotten to mention is the incredible way bus drivers can manovuer their huge buses between cars, people, motorbikes. I, and an English couple, watched in amazement as a huge bus passed between parked cars and bikes on a tiny narrow street. I swear to god this is no exaggeration, the bus passed with only at the most 2 inches to spare a bike parked on the road. I just shook my head and laughed, as did the English couple.

Thunder
I know exactly what you mean - I experienced that kind of thunder in Zagreb - (during the war time ! )- and yes it does wake you with a start and you think "bombs!" Brisbane has similar thunder storms that come out of nowhere. Being on your own can be a bit tough - there is nothing like sharing a trip with a friend - or partner, or as you did, with your brother. Most of those popular places do cater for the tourists because that is their big income especially for the locals - and when the tourists are gone things are quite different.
