HI all,

I hope you are all well. As promised here is a more detailed update than the one sent the other day :/

The bus trip from Calgary was MAGNIFICENT!!!!!! the mountains are huge and there is snow everywhere! and i mean snow still a coupe of meteres deep - lots of avalanche warnings too..... around the resort there are huge piles of snow that have been cleared offf hte roads still just sitting there some piles would be at least 3m high!!!!

The bus was also a lot more comfotable than the plane too and we could see so much stuf. In Calgary we saw tons and tons of squirrels - Matt we even managed to get a few good photos of the little fellas too!! 😉 In Banff we saw real live reindeer so close to the road and tourists trying to pat them - no not us we aren'yt that silly lol. We haven't seen a bear yet but there is still heaps of time, there have apparently ben heaps of warnings about bear sightings and signs telling us to stay away from certain areas and tracks.

Since we arrived in Lake louise at 4:30pm monday 16th may local time we have been flat out with signing in, organising all paperwork for pay, insurance, etc. After we did that we went to discover what outr accomdation would be like... well it was a HUGE let down!!! luckilly we are both in the same room, so no fear of strange room mates or the like 😉.

It was a bit of a hike from the sign in area to our accomodation up a bit of a hill to an old shack thqat we thought surely must be about to fall over! there were(are) tarps on the roof that aren't secured very well -Mike, dad and Andy would have a fit at how poorley the ropes are tied!! we finaly found a door that we coud enter so in we toddled bags and all opened our door and the stench that came out of that room was like nothing we had smelt before!! it was like a mixture of wet dog and old lingering cigarette smoke!! it was so bad the first thing we had to do was open our tiny window to try and get some air in. We haven't closed the window since to try and get some fresh air in there.

So inside our room we have a bed, set or draws, built in cupboard and an ensuite, oh and a fridge and a little table and chair. This is all squished in with not a huge deal of floor space left for us to walk around in. the room is so small that one side of the bed is tucked up tight against a wall so we have to be climbing over each other to get in and out also makes it really hard to make the bed!!

Looking out of our window there is this huge pile of snow i wish the computers here had a cable capable of hooking up our camera so we could show you all the pictures.

The lake is still pretty much frozen over but each day we have been going down and noting how much it is defrosting each day even though it is so cold it is still melting at a pretty fast rate there is a lottery style competition happening at the moment to determine when the ice will go the locals reckon within the next 2 weeks the lake will "reveal her beauty". Apparently it turns this fantastic emrald colour. One amazing thing about the lake is how clear it is you can see the bottom of the lake so clearly it is amazing Woz took a photo and to you can see all ther old logs and rocks and everything - we really need to get to a place that allows us to put photos from camera onto internet!!

The best thing so far though has been the fact that today it snowed!!! its spring and only 1 1/2 weeks away from summer and there is snow falling!!! not just a little bit of snow but quite heavy. As was expected I got a little excited about this as I haven't seen snow before and to have it snow here before winter was cool.

We haven't started to explore the tracks here yet ans we have had 2 full days of orientation, we haven't even been to the pub yet as we haven been to tired.

Any way I will go now and I will write shortley after we have done some more exciting stuff...

Bec and Woz

Take care all and keep those emails coming!!
