We all got into Amsterdam just fine, and although it took us a while to get to our hostel (the trams here are really hard to figure out, we still don't know how to use them right after using them several times today). I would have to say that this city is one of the most messed up cities I have ever been in, just because they are so lax on so many things that are illegal elsewhere. There really are tons of marijuana bars and prostitutes looking for work by standing in windows in the red light district, and I think it just made most of us very uneasy and nervous about the legitimacy of the entire thing. That was during a couple hours of just wandering around the city without any really purpose or destination. We also saw the Rijksmuseum, which is full of Dutch paintings, mostly Rembrandt (I think the museum is named for him(); we also went on a tour of an old Heineken brewery, which included 3 beers along the tour and a free beer glass at the end. It was easily one of the coolest things we have done thusfar. We aren't sure exactly what we are doing tomorrow, but we are taking a night train to Munich tomorrow night, where we will stay for 2 days (1 night) and then go to Venice.
